What the gurus are saying

This concealer earns consistent praise for its skin-like, natural finish that blends seamlessly without looking like makeup, even when layered for extra coverage. The lightweight texture is hydrating and buildable, making it work for everything from light coverage to full concealment of dark circles and discoloration. To prevent creasing with heavier application, gurus suggest setting it with translucent powder underneath the eyes, especially if you have dark circles or are layering it over foundation.

"It is very lightweight. But if you were to apply a lot of this because maybe you have dark circles and you have some discoloration to cover up, then I would probably recommend applying a translucent powder just to prevent any type of creasing. You can try doing it without just to see, but for longevity I always like to powder up underneath my eyes and maybe any blemish areas. [...] This is beautiful. Honestly, this is really, really nice. So if you're looking for a skin-like concealer, I would say try the Patrick Ta Major Skin Soft Blur Brightening Concealer. I do have this underneath my eyes today."

"It really is hydrating. It gives a skin-like finish underneath the eyes. It gives a nice refreshed look. [...] I love something that is very skin-like, that just looks like my skin. And even if I do apply a little bit more than what I typically do, it still looks very skin-like. It is buildable, so if you do have dark circles or some discoloration, you could build it up to full coverage, and then set it with some translucent powder for longevity or to tone down some of the shine. I did purchase Light Neutral One. I thought about picking up a shade darker, but this is actually good for right now -- maybe come summer I might need to go a little bit deeper. [...] I have used it to conceal different areas on my face after applying foundation, [...] and it blends really nicely and it doesn't look like I'm wearing concealer at all. [...] If you're looking for a new concealer, something that is very natural and skin-like, this is one to look into."

"The Patrick Ta Major Skin Soft Blur Brightening Concealer also looks stunning underneath the eyes. I just need to get a little bit of a deeper shade, so that's on me."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
