What the gurus are saying

This spray delivers a distinctly dewy, misty finish that gurus praise for its pretty, glowing effect, though there's honest skepticism about how well it actually holds makeup throughout the day. Those after a radiant look will love the result, but if longevity is your main concern, it may not be the workhorse you're hoping for.

"If this is just a mist that gives you a nice glow, beautiful. However, if it's a mist that gives you that instant shine and you can't really control the level of shine, the level of glow, then I'm a little bit suspicious. Being a makeup artist, this is something I would be drawn to. Being an everyday consumer, not so much. And also, $38, almost $40 for a mist. One layer is still quite intense. I wonder how it looks with a powder on top."

"I love a nice dewy misty spray and I like that. It's like a creamy mist and it goes on your face. Just want to look wet. It is so dewy. You know people say you look a bit greasy, I come in with powder. I'm like I don't care."

"I don't know if this setting spray like makes your makeup last at all but it sure is pretty. It added the glass, I'm definitely still feel like I'm glowy. It kind of has a funny smell and it kind of spat at me a little bit, but the glass skin spray hit the sides of my nose and I don't really want glassy nose so I had to retouch with powder."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
