What they flagged

  • Slightly sticky, though a moisturiser masks it

What the gurus are saying

This serum's texture sits between a traditional serum and a gel cream, offering noticeable thickness without heaviness on the skin, and it genuinely calms redness and irritation even during flare-ups. Gurus praise the formula for its soothing blend of Centella Asiatica, Manuka honey, and plant extracts, plus ceramides for barrier support, and note it works well for sensitive or irritated skin, rough texture, and overnight repair. The slight stickiness disappears under moisturizer, and those seeking extra nourishment may want to layer it heavier or use it as an overnight mask.

"We have 729,707 PPM of Centella Asiatica to help calm irritation, reduce redness and support skin repair as well. We also have Manuka Honey Extract and Honey Extract to help hydrate. We have Ceramides in here as well alongside Melatonin, which is basically antioxidant. And then Coptis Japonica and Artemisia Vulgaris oil to calm the skin. This definitely helped to soothe my skin when it was at its most peely and red and irritated. When my skin was destroyed and ruined, I decided to use this and see how much it actually calms my skin. And luckily for me, this really did help calm and repair. I use it alongside the Aestura ATO Barrier Cream, an amazing combination. I think they describe it as a lightweight serum and it kind of is, but it's got a thickness to it that makes it more feel like a gel cream. But again, it's not thick on the skin. A little bit sticky, but you can't feel that through a moisturizer. One of those ones where I have other calming serums that work great. This worked too. I really enjoyed it."

"My only complaint with the Sea Manuka 92 Serum is that it's such a small product, I feel like I finished it off quite quickly, but I loved it. It's another one of those serums that's great for problem prone skin, it's hydrating, it's soothing, it's calming, it's everything I could want."

"It has this really unique texture. It's like serum-esque, but it's a little bit thicker. It's perfect for those nights where you need overnight repair to the skin, rejuvenate the skin. It's soothing, it's nourishing, it's got that Manuka honey in, it's eco friendly and it's proven to be effective on the skin as well. It's been clinically tested and it's shown notable improvements in the skin's redness and hydration as well. The serum itself is actually packaged in a really sustainable way, making it both skin and planet friendly. You can apply it in the morning for the daytime for a stronger, more moisturizing effect, or at night you can almost like mask it. If you have a rough skin texture, if you have skin that is prone to redness or your skin gets irritated really quickly, perhaps your skin's a little bit sensitive and you need soothing, this is a great, great serum to use."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.
