This essence is instantly absorbed by all skin types, from sensitive to mature, using hyaluronic acid formulated to penetrate deeper, paired with seaweed extract and adenosine for barrier repair and antioxidant support. "This is from Papa Recipe. This is the Noble Rot Lifting Essence and if you have mature skin, if you want something that gives you an antioxidant boost that absorbs beautifully and that is safe for damaged skin barriers, this was literally made by a papa for his daughter who had eczema. So it's not going to cure eczema, but this is great for a damaged skin barrier. And noble rot is specifically the rot that grows on specific grapes. It was studied at UC Davis and they found it to be lifting, skin supporting, full of antioxidant and wonderful fungus, aka rot or I think even yeast that really supports a skin barrier."

"This is more of an essence from Papa Recipe, another K Beauty line. This was actually made by a father for his daughter who had eczema. This is not meant to cure eczema so I want to make it clear it's not an eczema treatment or anything like that, but this is Noble Rot and they actually found that there's basically this fungus that grows on grapes that is amazing. It is lifting, it is nice and plumping to the skin. Essences are usually for me like an extra hydration step or an extra treatment step during the morning."

"I have been using an essence, specifically the pyunkang yul essence, for about 2 years now. It basically is this ferment filtrate that is fragrance-free, alcohol-free, hydrating, nourishing, soothing, and like grape jelly for the face. I thought there was nothing that could replace it. I have not found anything as soothing, as well-absorbing, and as wonderful as my pyunkang yul until this came in. This is the Noble Rot ingredient, and this isn't just like a grape ingredient but it is the fermented grape fungus. Holy, is this hydrating, is this soothing, is this nourishing to the skin. I literally feel like this is the first product I can truly say is a level up from my pyunkang yul essence toner. It absorbs well, it has beneficial ingredients, and yes it is fragrance and dye-free. It has panthenol, that vitamin B5 for hydration, it also has adenosine which helps with fine lines and wrinkles. This is one of the products that directly after putting it on I see the difference. This Noble Rot is a lifting, hydrating, fermented essence that has replaced my pyunkang yul. This is a come to mama product. This is one that I will buy over and over again. I regularly put this on my face and I will continue to do so."

"The Noble Rot Lifting Essence is a perfect example of what a hydrating essence should look like and what it should do. It's a deeply hydrating and soothing essence that you can feel the moment it touches your skin, not only getting into your skin but soothing and smoothing the surface of your skin, providing instant hydration that you can feel throughout your skin. It's formulated with lower molecular weight hyaluronic acid to deliver that hydration into your skin. It also has seaweed extract which makes your skin look and feel super smooth and moisturized, adenosine for barrier repair and healing, and it's soothing. This is a great essence for sensitive skin types, oily skin types—anyone can actually use this. When you apply two layers or even three layers, it makes your skin look and feel great, and more importantly, it helps support barrier function. Both this and the other product are so great for all skin types, especially sensitive skin types, and they give you that glow, that dewy glow, while actually hydrating the skin without being heavy and greasy."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
