What the gurus are saying

Gurus consistently praise Panoxyl as an underrated, versatile acne treatment effective on the face, chest, back, and body. They emphasize leaving it on skin for several minutes before rinsing to maximize efficacy, and note it also helps with body odor and bacterial skin issues. The universal caveat: benzoyl peroxide bleaches towels and clothes, so apply while naked or in the shower and rinse thoroughly. Most mention it can be drying and recommend starting at lower percentages or reducing frequency based on skin tolerance.

"An underrated product in a skincare routine is going to actually be a benzoyl peroxide wash. This is a great option for people who have acne. It's an acne treatment. It's great to use on the chest, the back. Lather to these affected areas, leave it on the skin even on your face while you're in the shower and leave it on the skin for a few minutes and then rinse it off. It can really help clear up and prevent breakouts when used consistently. It's also great for body odor. You can lather it under the arms to the feet, leave that lather on the skin for a few minutes again while you're in the shower and then rinse it off. The benzoyl peroxide can cut down on the bacteria on the skin that break down sweat and lead to odor."

"Panoxyl Benzoyl Peroxide Wash is underrated. You can use it on the face and you can use it on the body, it's fragrance free, it goes on like a dream. I highly recommend it. Benzoyl peroxide targets the acne-causing bacteria, so using this as a wash can help control progressive macular hypomelanosis, which is the appearance of lighter spots on your body. You can also use this on your underarms to control body odor by lathering it there in the shower, letting it sit on the skin for a few minutes and rinsing it off. It will deodorize your underarms because it reduces the amount of bacteria under the arms that break down sweat and lead to body odor. You can also use this on your feet to cut down on foot odor, and if you have pitted keratolysis, which is due to bacteria on the feet that makes them slimy and smell really fast, benzoyl peroxide wash can help with that too."

"PanOxyl wash is a benzoyl peroxide wash that comes in percentages from 4% all the way up to max strength at 10%, and you can choose which one you want to use depending on how sensitive your skin is, how oily your skin is, and how severe your acne is. So if you have very sensitive skin, stick with the 4%. If you have very oily skin, very severe acne, and not sensitive skin at all, you could work your way up to the 10%. Benzoyl peroxide is anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and it's a really great staple product that I like to have my patients use both on their face as well as all over their body, so it can help treat chest, knee, and back acne. It's really convenient to use in the shower. One thing I always say is that benzoyl peroxide can be very drying, so you don't want to use it every day. You kind of want to see how your skin reacts and then listen to it. You can titrate up usage if your skin gets used to it. And secondly, benzoyl peroxide can bleach your towels, so just keep an eye out for that and don't get alarmed if you see orange stains or white spots on your towels."

"If you want this active ingredient to penetrate onto the skin, use this like a mask. Literally wash your face but leave it on for 60 seconds, leave it on for 2 or 3 minutes, or if you're getting in the shower, put this on your face before you get in the shower, leave it on, and then wash it off in the shower. As a bonus in the shower you can literally use this on your chest and your back. Benzoyl peroxide does stain if you don't know what this is, but that's why I love benzoyl peroxide in a shower because I can rinse it off before it has a chance to stain my clothes or towels."

"Benzoyl peroxide here, Panoxyl has a 10 percent benzoyl peroxide. I like benzoyl peroxide because it mildly exfoliates and it's antimicrobial, kills the bacteria that causes acne. If you're on topical prescription antibiotics, this will prevent or decrease the chances of you getting bacterial resistance. Be sure to wash off benzoyl peroxide well because it will bleach your clothes and towels."

"Check out their four percent benzoyl peroxide cleanser that's also a really good one. I'll alternate between using this one and the benzoyl peroxide cleanser. Just keep in mind though, wash it off completely because if you have any residue on your skin and you apply a shirt or you wipe away with a towel you will bleach your towels, your linens, your clothes."

"One of the ones I love to recommend is Panoxyl, and with that said, this is the highest that you'll probably find over the counter at 10 percent. Not that it matters, the way I recommend using this is applying it to a clean face, letting it sit for five minutes, and then jumping into the shower, preferably while you're naked so that you do not bleach your clothes. This way it minimizes any impact that it may have on your towels. Now, if your acne is mild and not so severe and you get one or two blemishes, the Duo comes as a spot treatment so you can literally just put it on your acne spots and leave it on overnight. Again, make sure your bed sheets are white or else you will have some stains."

"Panoxyl comes at 10 percent benzoyl peroxide. Interesting fact, you don't need to have it at 10 for it to be effective, it's even effective at three to five percent. But just FYI, it may bleach your towels. The way I recommend using this is applying it to your body or your face while you're naked, brushing your teeth, letting it sit for 5-10 minutes standing, and then jumping into the shower and washing it off. Try not to sit on any sort of furniture or towel because it will bleach it, and it may dry you out."
