What the gurus are saying

Benzoyl peroxide at this strength clears and prevents breakouts when used consistently, and gurus praise PanOxyl as an affordable option that works on the face, chest, back, and body. The key thing to know: benzoyl peroxide can be very drying and may bleach towels and clothes, so dermatologists suggest starting with the 4% if your skin is sensitive, working up to 10% only if you have oily, severe acne and resilient skin. One approach gurus recommend is applying it to clean skin, letting it sit five minutes, then showering to minimise bleaching on fabrics.

"The benzoyl peroxide cleansers you can find them as CeraVe, you can see as PanOxyl. Those are great cleansers to alternate by the day to help exfoliate and keep your pores clear without destroying your skin's moisture barrier."

Dermatologist Recommended Summer Skincare Routine: How to Glow Up Your Skin This Summer!
"This is one of my favorite new cleansers, but check out their four percent benzoyl peroxide cleanser too, that's also a really good one, so I'll alternate between using this one and the benzoyl peroxide cleanser. PanOxyl is a great benzoyl peroxide brand. Just keep in mind, wash it off completely, because if you have any residue on your skin and you apply a shirt or wipe away with a towel, you will bleach your towels, your linens, your clothes if you have some benzoyl peroxide on."
Dermatologist Reviews: Target Skincare Routine for Teenagers
"PanOxyl has a 10 percent Benzoyl Peroxide Wash. I like benzoyl peroxide because it mildly exfoliates and its antimicrobial kills the bacteria that causes acne. If you're on topical prescription antibiotics, this will prevent or decrease the chances of you getting bacterial resistance. Be sure to wash off benzoyl peroxide well because it will bleach your clothes and towels, and your mom's not going to be happy if that happens."

"Salicylic acid is great because it's oil loving and it's going to go deeper into your pores. PanOxyl you can use on your face at night several times a week. It's very similar to Paula's Choice but it's much cheaper, and it comes for 12 bucks."

"One of the ones I love to recommend is PanOxyl. This is the highest you'll probably find over the counter, at ten percent. The way I recommend using this is applying it to a clean face, letting it sit for five minutes, and then jumping into the shower, preferably while you're naked, so that you do not bleach your clothes, and this way it minimizes any impact it may have on your towels."

"You really want to make sure that you are using ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or even sulfur to help clear that breakout. PanOxyl comes at 10% benzoyl peroxide. Interesting fact, you don't need to have it at 10% for it to be effective, it's even effective at three to five percent, but just FYI it may bleach your towels. The way I recommend using this is applying it to your body or your face while you're naked brushing your teeth, letting it sit for five to ten minutes, and then jumping into the shower and washing it off. Try not to sit on any sort of furniture or towel because it will bleach it, and it may dry you out."

"PanOxyl is an acne wash that I have been prescribing for years, and it's wonderful for people who have facial acne, but it can also be brought onto the body and into the groin and buttock area. It works by not only destroying bacteria but it can also help unclog your pores. Another benefit of using it is that bacteria on the skin are what cause odor in that area, so if you struggle with body odor and feel like it might be emanating from your groin area, maybe a Benzoyl Peroxide Wash like this is right for you. A couple of downsides: for some people, although this is pretty rare, it can cause irritation, or some people can even be allergic to it. But the more annoying thing is that it can bleach your clothing and your sheets. If you wash it off very thoroughly this won't be an issue, but I've found in my personal experience and in talking with my friends and patients that you often don't fully rinse it off, and so you end up destroying a couple of towels as you acclimate to using it."

"If you suffer from inflammatory acne, those red bumps, your best second cleanser is going to be something with benzoyl peroxide in it. The most popular brand here is PanOxyl Benzoyl Peroxide Wash, it comes in 5 and 10%. If your skin is more on the sensitive side, I would opt for a lower percentage such as 4 or 5%. Let the cleanser sit on the skin, rub it in really good, and then rinse it off. Pro tip with the benzoyl peroxide cleanser: if you don't rinse it off very well it will bleach your towels, and if you don't rinse it off in the shower it will bleach whatever you step on afterwards."

"Underrated product in a skincare routine is going to be a Benzoyl Peroxide Wash, PanOxyl Benzoyl Peroxide Wash. This is a great option for people who have acne, it's an acne treatment, it's great to use on the chest, the back. Lather it on the affected areas, leave it on the skin, even on your face while you're in the shower, leave it on the skin for a few minutes and then rinse it off. It can really help clear up and prevent breakouts when used consistently. But we don't all have acne, so who else could benefit from this? Well, it's great for body odor. Lather it under the arms, to the feet, leave that lather on the skin for a few minutes again while you're in the shower and then rinse it off. The benzoyl peroxide can cut down on the bacteria on the skin that break down sweat and lead to odor. The PanOxyl 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Wash is a Prime Day deal."

HOW TO GET EVEN SKIN TONE ON BODY | Dermatologist
"How do you get rid of this so you can get even skin tone? PanOxyl, or any brand of Benzoyl Peroxide Wash you want, or leave-on benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is an acne fighting ingredient and one of the ways it works to help control acne breakouts is it targets that annoying little bacteria Cutibacterium acnes, so it also works for this condition. One of the reasons I love it so much is that in contrast to oral antibiotics or topical antibiotics, which can reduce the bacteria, the bacteria do not become resistant to benzoyl peroxide, so it's safe to use long term. The main side effect of benzoyl peroxide is that it can be very drying, it can be irritating, and if you choose to use a leave-on product it can bleach fabrics, it will bleach fabrics, I'm not going to soft speak that. You put it on the skin and it can get onto your clothing and leave bleach stains, so that's annoying. For that reason I personally am a fan of the wash forms where you lather the benzoyl peroxide in the shower."
DERMATOLOGIST SKINCARE HACKS YOU NEED TO TRY | @DrDrayzday
"PanOxyl Benzoyl Peroxide Wash is so underrated. I don't think this is the right price for it, it's that good. You can use it on the face, you can use it on the body, it's fragrance free, it goes on like a dream. I highly recommend it. PanOxyl benzoyl peroxide actually can help with a condition known as progressive macular hypomelanosis, the appearance of lighter patches on your body that usually starts on the trunk and progressively spreads to involve the upper arms and upper back. It's not contagious, but it's thought to be related to Cutibacterium acnes, the acne causing bacteria which benzoyl peroxide targets, so using this as a wash can help control that condition. You can also use it under the underarms to control body odor. Just lather it there in the shower, let it sit on the skin for a few minutes and rinse it off. It will deodorize your underarms because it reduces the amount of bacteria under the arms that break down sweat and lead to body odor. You can also use this on your feet to cut down on foot odor, and if you have that foot condition, pitted keratolysis, it's due to a bacteria on the feet that makes them slimy and smell really bad. It's called pitted keratolysis because it leaves little pits on the bottom of the feet and it creates a really strong odor."

"If you want this active ingredient to penetrate the skin, is it really that useful if you wash it right off? Use this like a mask: literally wash your face but leave it on for 60 seconds, or 2 or 3 minutes. Or if you're getting in the shower, put this on your face before you get in, leave it on, and then wash it off in the shower. As a bonus, in the shower you can use this on your chest and your back too. It's like $10, from PanOxyl. This is benzoyl peroxide, so it does stain. If you don't know what this is, all of my acne babes know what this is. It's the active ingredient that will stain your clothing, your towels, etc, but that's why I love BP in the shower, because I can rinse it off before it has a chance to stain."

"PanOxyl wash is a Benzoyl Peroxide Wash that comes in percentages from 4% all the way up to max strength at 10%, and you can choose which one you want to use depending on how sensitive your skin is, how oily your skin is, and how severe your acne is. So if you have very sensitive skin, stick with the 4%. If you have very oily skin, very severe acne, and not sensitive skin at all, you could work your way up to the 10%. Benzoyl peroxide is anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and it's a really great staple product that I like to have my patients use both on their face as well as all over their body, so it can help treat chest, knee, and back acne. It's really convenient to use in the shower. One thing I always say is that benzoyl peroxide can be very drying, so you don't want to use it every day. You kind of want to see how your skin reacts and then listen to it. You can titrate up usage if your skin gets used to it. And secondly, benzoyl peroxide can bleach your towels, so just keep an eye out for that and don't get alarmed if you see orange stains or white spots on your towels."

"There was benzoyl peroxide at 10 strength, good old Panoxyl. The formulations back then were so far removed from how benzoyl peroxide is formulated nowadays, so irritating that it caused a barrier issue, and the potholes on my skin were created by using actives that were too strong for my skin, with no retinoid in the picture at all."
