What the gurus are saying

At 10% strength, this benzoyl peroxide wash effectively clears active acne and is quite affordable, but it's notably drying and potent enough that it's not for daily use. Those with active acne on oily skin often limit it to a couple times a week at night, while others find it better suited to body acne. Anyone with dry skin may want to approach this conservatively.

"If you want a maximum strength benzoyl peroxide cleanser, buy Panoxyl 10 wash. Benzoyl peroxide comes in different strengths over the counter, typically at around 2 or 2.5 percent, maybe 4 percent, 5 percent, and then 10 percent. The 10 percent products are maximum strength and that is the highest that you can get over the counter. You can always start with a low percentage and build up to 10 percent as tolerated."

"If you're struggling with body acne, something that's a little more affordable is the PanOxyl 10% benzoyl peroxide cleanser that you can incorporate in the shower as part of your body skincare routine to really mitigate that acne flare from sweat and heat that we can get during the summer time."

"PanOxyl also makes a 10% benzoyl peroxide cleanser that retails for $19.77 and this one I actually frequently recommend to patients to treat even acne on the face and body to use in the shower because it's really great for that."

"If you have active acne and you're extremely oily, maybe a couple times a week when you wash your face at night you want to use benzoyl peroxide. This is PanOxyl at 10%. The percentage of the benzoyl peroxide doesn't really actually matter anywhere from 5 to 10%, you're going to get more or less the same effects. But when you put this on your face, let it sit on your face before washing it off. Note to the wise, it will bleach your towels, hence why I only have white towels. And number two, if you don't want to do it at night because you shower in the morning, maybe then keep it in your shower, apply it to your face while you're washing your body, and then wash your face last. This way you run less risk of bleaching your towels."

"The Holy Grail benzoyl peroxide wash for me is PanOxyl. It's just the one that's been around the longest that I've been using and recommending for the longest. PanOxyl 10% wash is a great body wash for people who have body acne, chest, back, shoulders. Works really well for clearing up and preventing acne breakouts on the body. Can also be used on the face, although it is a bit more drying in comparison to their 4% strength. The other way I always encourage to use this is for cutting down on body odor. Lather it to the skin under the arms while you're in the shower, let it sit on there for a few minutes and then rinse it off. This cuts down on the bacteria that would otherwise break down your sweat and lead to body odor. Also use it as a foot wash, especially if you're someone who has sweaty feet that become malodorous. It'll cut down on the burden of bacteria on your feet that break down the sweat and lead to foot odor."

"The Panoxyl 10 wash is really really really potent. This is not for everyone, this is going to be drying. I would recommend this for like the body or something, whereas the cushion cleanser is what can actually be used both morning and evening in a double cleansing routine."
