    What the gurus are saying

The banana powder pigment giving that subtle yellow tint is what gurus keep returning to, it color-corrects dark circles without looking like makeup, striking that balance between skincare and cosmetic effect. The formula is instantly hydrating, a little goes a long way, and the gold-stabilized vitamin C stays effective. It's fragrance-free and vegan, and a clinical study showed 29 of 38 people experienced brighter-looking under eyes.

"The Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Vitamin C Eye Cream is my top eye cream recommendation in this sale. The soft yellow tint gives the under eye area a slight brightening effect, not to the level of a concealer, but a nice soft color correction, and it's very moisturizing. They also reformulated it, so if the original irritated your under eyes before, it might work now."

"I believe Ole Henriksen came out with a new version of that vitamin C eye product which is fragrance free. I've talked about it in multiple videos. I've used it for months. I love that product. It has this nice, ever so slight brightening effect on the under eye area, which is great for combating darkness, but it's very minimal. It's honestly the perfect balance between makeup and skincare."

Reacting to TikTok Banana Skin Care Hacks 🍌
"They reached out to me wanting me to test their new Banana Bright Plus eye cream before it was ever released, and as I started and continued to use it I absolutely fell in love. For me it's the perfect balance between makeup and skincare. First of all it's fragrance free and vegan, it comes in a recyclable glass jar, and a little bit goes a long way. This formula is great for anyone looking to brighten the appearance of the under eye area, it's instantly hydrating and brightening, and it makes a great base for makeup. They did an eight week clinical study on thirty eight people and twenty nine of them said they had brighter under eyes, so if you're someone who has dark circles from stress, lack of sleep, or too much crying, this is a great option. The ingredients I love in this are the gold complex vitamin C, since vitamin C can be tricky when it comes to stability and gold is really good at preserving its effectiveness, plus bioflavonoids, which are great antioxidants. It also has banana powder pigments which give it a slight yellow tint that color corrects and helps correct the dark circles, without using mica, and I love that it's just ever so slight of a tint so it brightens the under eye area without looking like you're slathering makeup on your skin."
Are Eye Creams Actually Worth It?
"Their new product that I've been testing out since February, the Banana Bright Plus Eye Cream, is formulated with gold complexed ascorbic acid, the purest form of vitamin C, which has the most research and data behind it for its effectiveness to fade dark spots, brighten dark circles, and fade hyperpigmentation overall. It's encapsulated in gold in a way that protects the ascorbic acid from going bad while still delivering it into the skin. I love this one, it's fragrance free and vegan, and instead of relying on traditional dyes or mica it actually uses banana powder pigment to give it a yellow color correcting tint. I've always struggled finding the perfect balance between a skincare product and a makeup product, and this eye cream is awesome because with that yellow tint it ever so slightly gives that corrected appearance to the under eye area."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

    Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
