What they flagged

Nothing. None of the experts who reviewed it raised a problem.

    What the gurus are saying

Good lather that spreads easily through blonde hair without leaving it feeling stripped or dry, which sets it apart from many purple shampoos that can be harsh. The toning works well to brighten blonde and fight dullness from unwanted tones, though it won't transform hair to platinum on its own. It's pricey, so best reserved for those who find it worth the cost for gentler toning than they've had elsewhere.

"My hair stylist told me to start using this more often. I finally finished it up. I really like this. The scent is nice. Doesn't bother me. It's not over the top."

"This is their purple shampoo for blonder hair. I don't necessarily know if this really... I think it might help brighten up my blonde a little bit, but it doesn't... my hairdresser said, 'Oh, if you use that, you're really you'll really be platinum blazing.' It doesn't really do that, but it does help brighten it up a bit and kind of fight off some of the other tones in your hair, which can make it look dull. But otherwise you can just get the plain color just the regular number four without the purple in it if you don't have blondish hair."

"Their purple blonde enhancing shampoo is wonderful. I love it. You don't need to use it every day because if you use it every day your hair, if it's very light, will look purple. But if you use it once a week or so, it really does lighten up your hair and make it look more luminous."

"If you have blonde hair and you know it can get a bit brassy, nothing will take the brassiness out as well as Olaplex's purple products. These are products I've had to defend over the years because yes, they will absolutely dye your hands, I use gloves to apply them, and I let it sit on my hair for just 5 minutes or so, but don't leave it on too long or your hair will turn purple. It takes out all trace of brassiness."
    Top Pick: purple toning product

"I've used a ton of different purple shampoos over the years and they all kind of get the job done in terms of toning down the brassy notes in the hair but the reason I just repurchased the one from Olaplex and I like it so much and I recommend it is because one it foams up really well so you don't have to use a ton of it to evenly distribute it throughout your hair. Sometimes I feel like if it doesn't get sudsy enough it's really hard to feel like you're getting an even distribution of the product. And the other thing I really like about it is it doesn't leave my hair feeling super dry or stripped and a lot of purple shampoos will do that so that was a big win for me."

"The Olaplex No4 P Blonde Enhancing Toning Shampoo didn't convince me. It is nice, but I found it quite harsh on my hair and not better than whatever drugstore version I had."

"I've used this for over a year and repurchased it. I love it, gives my hair a little bit of a bounce. Usually this kind of gives my hair a little bit of a curl. I did like their purple shampoo."

"I'm going to pick up another Olaplex purple shampoo. This is hands down the best one. Hands down best purple shampoo in the entire world. You don't need to sit around and wait for it to tone the hair. You just wash it and rinse it out and you're good. It's amazing. I love this purple shampoo. The girl who does my hair color put me on to it years ago and it's what I've been using since I have been platinum this whole time."

So I tried the “Abbey Yung Method”
"The Olaplex No.4P Blonde Enhancer Toning Shampoo is the best purple shampoo in the entire world. I've tried so many purple shampoos. It's so good and it does not contain SLS. It doesn't stain. You don't have to sit there forever waiting for it to do the toning. I actually will just mix it with my volumizing shampoo and I just wash, do a deep scrub of my scalp and once I rinse I'm good. I'm toned, I'm all set. I love this. I think it's the best purple shampoo that there is. Especially if you're platinum, Olaplex, this one is so good."
Grab a snack friends, I have SO many skin & hair care empties!
"I just mix kind of equal parts, maybe a little bit less purple shampoo than this, to get like a slightly more vanilla shade for my hair now because we're going like slightly warmer. But I love these, I think they're great, and this is definitely hands down the best purple shampoo I've ever used. The other ones stain my hands like crazy or you have to leave it on for a really long time for it to do anything. This is really great. I just mix these, work through my hair, I have my little scalp scrubber thingy I use that, and then I rinse it and we're good. Like color is perfect."

"The blonde enhancer shampoo hands down the best purple shampoo there is, hands down the best one. It's the perfect tone, it doesn't stain, it's so good. You don't have to let it sit on your head forever for it to work. It lasts even though it's like a little bottle. It really lasts me forever. It's not stripping, it's just fantastic. I'm never leaving this behind, this is my fave."
