"Microcurrent devices like NuFACE claim to tighten and lift the face, and I would not say that they're scams because when used consistently you can see small bits of tightening and reshaping of the face. However, you need to use them incredibly consistently and continuously to maintain those results. If you buy the device, will you actually do it for 15 or 20 minutes every day? If you've got 30 minutes for your routine every night and this is really important to you, go for it. But I feel like in terms of all the things that could be helping your skin or getting you the results you want, that's not going to move the needle the same way an in-office treatment would."

"The device I use is the NuFACE Trinity. This is a microcurrent device, so that's a completely different technology. "I have a microcurrent device, I have a NuFACE, I have a ZIIP. I don't get the ZIIP as much as I get the NuFACE. I think the NuFACE in my opinion works a little bit better than the ZIIP. I don't know, there's no gold standard research comparing the two back to back by an independent third party. It would be interesting if somebody did take the time to do that and do biopsies of the skin to look at the skin underneath to see if there's actually a difference. But they're microcurrent devices that release ATP from your skin cells to allow your skin to really regenerate and tighten and contract over time and to help with collagen production. Again, only as good as you're going to use them, and I tell patients, listen, if you never want to get a facelift and you are really gung ho about making a difference for yourself, buy one, but make sure you use it, and you have to use it every day for at least 20 minutes all over your face while watching a TV show. And if you have that in you, go ahead, it can make a difference. But once you stop, you're probably going to become Cinderella again, scrubbing floors."

"It has microcurrents, and microcurrents deliver low level electrical currents to the muscle and to the tissues of the face, which can have several beneficial effects. Number one, muscle stimulation, so it's going to help to get that muscle contracted and moving, which can help with lymphatic fluid. It's not going to make your muscles bigger. Number two, supposedly it helps to promote collagen production, helping to stimulate the ATP supply, the energy supply of your cells, promoting collagen to get secreted, and for your skin to look slightly plumper over time. We'll see. It improves circulation, of course it will, because your muscles are slightly getting stimulated and you're actually physically moving it, kind of like with a roller or a spoon or a massage. And I think this is the biggest thing, reducing fluid retention or temporary lymphatic drainage is what you're probably going to see the most from this in the short term. You see a lot of videos on social where people are like, I just did the NuFACE, look how snatched my face looks. It's because they moved lymphatic fluid around. It will probably come back within an hour, but you will look better in the short term when you use this. If you do not have the cash to go see a provider, or you like things that you do yourself, this can look very questionable by the side of your bed. If you don't use it, you don't see any benefit from it. If you use it, you will see benefit from it. When you stop using it, you will no longer see any benefit from it. You only get the benefit from it as long as you use it."

"You'll look more snatched, having less puffiness, because you're mechanically moving that fluid around by the actions you use with this device, kind of like a face roller, minus the electrical currents. But this has electrical currents, producing ATP, which a roller doesn't, so this is going to help stimulate all your skin, your collagen production, your muscle stimulation, etc. It's a great device. Honestly, I've had this, I had the Zip, and I think I prefer this to the Zip. It seems more intuitive. The Zip, for me, never quite gelled, but it's about you and your preference. Do I think one is technically better than the other? No, I think it's about you and your preference."

"This one, the NuFACE Trinity Microcurrent Device, is easy to handle and ergonomically designed, it just fits in your palm, and I like it, but you're not going to get as good of a treatment as you would with something else because all you can do with this device is push up and press and hold. It's a good device, don't throw it away. You'll get a better result from something that does a true press and hold, because that's what they use in the office. Another reason I like this device is because you can tell when you have conductivity. There's a line that blinks to show you don't have conductivity, either the devices aren't on your skin or you don't have enough conductive gel. When I put both probes on my skin you can see the conductivity, and when I lift them off it goes away. So it lets you know if you're really getting true conductivity when you're using creams, because you can't really feel anything with this."

"I tried the NuFACE Trinity Microcurrent Device after using it off and on for a long period of time. I wasn't super impressed with it. I stopped using it after a while. I just didn't find it continued to do anything great for me. But some people love it, nothing wrong with that."

"I've never had really good luck with this brand because most of the things I've had from them, the first one would charge after it was already dead. This one required too much commitment from me. It really needs you to do it every day, usually every morning. It's radio frequency, so you smooth it over your skin and the electrodes stimulate your nerves. The results on this were so short lived and not long lasting. It really requires you to use it every day and I just couldn't do it. I can do something a couple times a week but I can't sit there for 10 minutes a day doing this. I'm just not that good at that."

"I saw a subtle plumping effect that was very short-lived. I didn't get much in the realm of tightening. When you use this, it does kind of give a tingly sensation, especially around the forehead, almost like an electric shock sensation. It's not unbearable, but if you're sensitive you may not care for that. To me this is overhyped, but I do think a lot of people find it beneficial for skin tightening. They do see a sustained improvement throughout the day, it depends overall on the amount of laxity that you have. Do know that unless you're using the one with the red light, it's unlikely that it's actually changing much of your collagen. It really mostly works by stimulating underlying muscles, so it's only going to work if you use it, and I found this, of all the devices I have tried, to be one of the most laborious, and I did not stick with it."

"You have the NuFACE device, which I reviewed a year ago. NuFACE is a microcurrent device that stimulates the muscles underneath the skin, and when those muscles are stimulated they may swell up a bit temporarily. So when I used this device I did notice a subtle plumping, firming effect on my skin, but it was short-lived, by the end of the day it was kind of gone. That is a device that a lot of people do see results with, but it's only going to be as good as you are at consistently using it. This is a beauty tool, there's not much in the way of research backing the claims that it makes, but a lot of people find it beneficial. In my experience using it, I found that it was kind of like a great way to tone the face, just to give a more contoured makeup look, but I would not hang my hat on it reversing laxity."
