What the gurus are saying

Visible tightening and depuffing happen with consistent use, but gurus split sharply on whether the time commitment is worth it. Those who stick with it report genuine lifting and firmer skin, especially around the jawline and under the eyes, though results fade quickly if you stop. The catch: you need to use it five to six days weekly for weeks to see payoff, and the sensation can feel like an electric shock. Some find the daily grind unsustainable compared to LED devices, which have stronger evidence behind them; others say the brief results before events or paired with a depuffing serum make it worthwhile.

"A subscriber said they used their New Face for a year and didn't see that it did anything. Microcurrent, which is what New Face uses, is meant to stimulate muscle tone and contraction to induce lift over time. But when the face ages, it's not really a muscle issue. It's all the other tissues in the face loosening and descending, which is probably why most people find New Face results to be subtle, if present at all."

Skincare Trends That Need to STOP | Dr. Sam Ellis
"Microcurrent devices like NuFACE claim to tighten and lift the face, and I would not say that they're scams because when used consistently you can see small bits of tightening and reshaping of the face. However, you need to use them incredibly consistently and continuously to maintain those results. If you buy the device, will you actually do it for 15 or 20 minutes every day? If you've got 30 minutes for your routine every night and this is really important to you, go for it. But I feel like in terms of all the things that could be helping your skin or getting you the results you want, that's not going to move the needle the same way an in-office treatment would."

"The NuFACE Trinity is such a nice treatment. It's relaxing, it's soothing, and it really helps to lift the cheeks, lift the jowls, lift the sagging hooded lids. You can also get the eye attachment which really helps to lift the hooded eyes."

Best Skincare of 2025 for Mature Skin!
"My favorite is the NuFACE Trinity. The way this works is that it increases ATP in the skin, which is your skin's energy currency. Skin that has more energy, that's more energized can do more. It can make more collagen. It can make more elastin. It can fight off the everyday stressors that our skin comes in contact with better. And it really helps to give me a temporary lifting and firming of my skin. I use the NuFACE Trinity every other morning and I alternate it with my red light mask."

"The one that I use every day is the NuFace Trinity. I love this one because it has a little booster mode, so it gives you 25% more power. It also has the heads that pop off. So, you can get a red light device for this or you can get another head that has little prongs that really, really helps with the hooded eyes called the ELE attachment."

"My favorite is the NuFACE Trinity, and that helps the NuFACE glide along my face. It also keeps it from giving me any shocks or tingles, so it's a perfectly comfortable treatment. It is a little messy to do, and so there are times when I kind of get tired of doing it and take a week off here or there, but overall I've been using the NuFACE for years and years now, still do use it, and still love it."

"With the extra 25 percent of power, the booster button activated, you can really feel a difference in the microcurrent. Look at the difference it makes, amazing, this is one of my all-time favorites. That's my basic routine, I would repeat that on the other side of my face."

"I'm really into my skincare devices. There are three that I use regularly and I absolutely love them. The first one is the NuFACE, a microcurrent device that I've been using for about 10 or 12 years now. I did a test on this way back in the day and I really was amazed at how it just lifted my skin. It's very subtle, but it does do something for your skin. Basically you're giving your skin a 10-minute massage with microcurrent, which is electricity that runs between these two balls and shoots the electricity into your skin. It helps your skin produce more ATP, which is your skin's energy currency, and skin that has more energy can do more. The more tired your skin is, the more tired your skin looks, and it just looks better when I use this than when I don't. This is the NuFACE Trinity, the more expensive model, because the heads pop off and you can get different heads to put on it."

"I highly recommend buying a NuFACE Trinity during the Nordstrom sale if you were going to buy one, because you can get the Trinity for $130 off, which is unheard of. You can never get a bargain on it like that anywhere else for the rest of the year, so this is the time to get it."
Winter Anti-Aging Skincare Routine Update! Over 40, 50, 60+
"This is shooting microcurrent into your skin, and that current matches the electrical current that your skin uses, so it really helps your skin to produce more ATP, which then, if it has more energy, presumably it can then produce more collagen. This is a treatment that I do every other day, I love this, I love this new model CU, it has this 25% extra boost to it and I find that that really helps. What I like this best for is I find that it really helps to lift my face, it helps to sculpt my jaw, it helps to sculpt my cheeks, it helps to lift my eyebrows and just make everything look more lifted. You could do it at night if you have more time at night, it doesn't really matter."
Anti-Aging MORNING Skincare Routine | Over 60 | WINTER 2025
"The device I use is the NuFACE Trinity. This is a microcurrent device, so that's a completely different technology. The microcurrent matches the microcurrent electricity in your skin and helps your skin produce more ATP, that energy that feeds the mitochondria in your skin and helps your skin do more, so it can pump out more collagen, more elastin, more ceramides, more hyaluronic acid, more everything. But on the surface it also helps to lift and firm your skin, so if you have hooded eyes that are sagging, or sagging jowls, or sagging nasolabial folds, or you want to raise your cheeks, doing this treatment can definitely help with those things. Now that part of the treatment is much more of a temporary effect, it lasts anywhere from half a day to a couple of days depending on how often you do this. It does require conducting gel. I like the NuFACE gel, this is my favorite gel, it comes in a nice big bottle and it's just very soothing to the skin. I do wash this off afterwards. When I do the NuFACE routine, I get up, I wash my face, I pat it dry a little bit but leave some water on the surface, I put the gel on my face and then I do my NuFACE routine, then I wash the gel off and then I go in with all my skincare."

"This is the NuFACE Trinity Microcurrent Device. I love this Trinity. I do use the mini when I travel sometimes, but this is my at-home version and I love it. It has this booster button so you get 25% more power with the microcurrent, and this is the device that I've used the longest. I've been using this for about eight or nine years now and I love it. So the microcurrent that they use matches the energy currency of your skin, the ATP, and so it helps your skin to produce more energy, and skin that's more energized can generate more collagen, it can generate more elastin, it can generate more hyaluronic acid, all the things that you need in your skin to keep it younger looking. Plus the massage that you're giving your face really helps to uplift your skin. I've noticed the biggest difference in my cheeks and in my eyelids when I do it, it really helps with the hooded eyes. It also helps to bring more blood flow to the skin, and more blood flow brings more nutrients to the skin that can again help it to do all the things that it needs to do to look and act younger. So this is one of my favorites, I use it all the time. I think what I'm going to purchase this time is the eye attachment head for this one, because I did buy this last year and I didn't get the new head for it, so the eye attachment really does help with the hooded eyes, you can really direct the current exactly where you want it."

"I've been using NuFACE for about 9 or 10 years now. It has stuck in my routine, I absolutely love it. It's so easy to use, it's so quick to use, it's 10 minutes a session, you do it three times a week. It gives me that little lift in my hoods, the little lift in my jawline, the little lift in my cheeks, and it is so worth it to do. The Trinity is called the Trinity because the heads pop off and there are two other heads you can pop on. One of which I really love, it's the ELE attachment, but I love the original head that comes with it."

"NuFACE is the device I've used the longest, eight or nine years, and almost 10 years on it is so worth it. If it didn't work I wouldn't keep using it, and anytime I don't use it I can see the difference in my skin. There's something about giving your face a massage a few days a week with its microcurrent that helps your skin produce more ATP, so it can produce more collagen and elastin and do all the good things it needs to do to stay looking its best."

"It's kind of like a tiny gym for your face. It's going to help with your muscle tone over time, and indirectly there may be some benefit when it comes to your intrinsic cellular health. It's going to give you a short-term lift, a short-term snatched effect, but it's only going to really work if you do this very consistently, every single day for a few minutes a day, five times a week or so. But if you are doing this consistently over time, you will maintain your muscle strength and it will help with your skin cellular health."

I love pairing this with my deeppuffer serum because with the deeppuffer serum and this you're attacking puffiness in the moment as well as in the long term. It is a tried and true that I have used for years and when you use it consistently you definitely see results."
Everything No One Told You About The Skin On Your Neck & Chest | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"The NuFACE Trinity is one of the at-home tools that can potentially help your neck. It's a tool that utilizes microcurrent, tools that deliver low level electrical currents to stimulate muscles and ATP within your muscular cells. And on the neck, this can give a very subtle effect of tightening, but you have to use it very consistently to see the results, or else the results will not be visible."

"You can also have other at-home devices like microcurrent devices, like the NuFACE. The NuFACE is great, only as long as you use it. It's been sitting by my bedstand for years, so it has not been great for me. But microcurrent can generate ATP in your cells, which can help boost collagen and elastin in the longer run. It's just annoying to do, it's like going to the gym, it's like another routine that I don't have time for."
How to Reduce Fine Lines & Wrinkles from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"I have a microcurrent device, I have a NuFACE, I have a ZIIP. I don't get the ZIIP as much as I get the NuFACE. I think the NuFACE in my opinion works a little bit better than the ZIIP. I don't know, there's no gold standard research comparing the two back to back by an independent third party. It would be interesting if somebody did take the time to do that and do biopsies of the skin to look at the skin underneath to see if there's actually a difference. But they're microcurrent devices that release ATP from your skin cells to allow your skin to really regenerate and tighten and contract over time and to help with collagen production. Again, only as good as you're going to use them, and I tell patients, listen, if you never want to get a facelift and you are really gung ho about making a difference for yourself, buy one, but make sure you use it, and you have to use it every day for at least 20 minutes all over your face while watching a TV show. And if you have that in you, go ahead, it can make a difference. But once you stop, you're probably going to become Cinderella again, scrubbing floors."
How to Get Rid of Sagging Jowls from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"It has microcurrents, and microcurrents deliver low level electrical currents to the muscle and to the tissues of the face, which can have several beneficial effects. Number one, muscle stimulation, so it's going to help to get that muscle contracted and moving, which can help with lymphatic fluid. It's not going to make your muscles bigger. Number two, supposedly it helps to promote collagen production, helping to stimulate the ATP supply, the energy supply of your cells, promoting collagen to get secreted, and for your skin to look slightly plumper over time. We'll see. It improves circulation, of course it will, because your muscles are slightly getting stimulated and you're actually physically moving it, kind of like with a roller or a spoon or a massage. And I think this is the biggest thing, reducing fluid retention or temporary lymphatic drainage is what you're probably going to see the most from this in the short term. You see a lot of videos on social where people are like, I just did the NuFACE, look how snatched my face looks. It's because they moved lymphatic fluid around. It will probably come back within an hour, but you will look better in the short term when you use this. If you do not have the cash to go see a provider, or you like things that you do yourself, this can look very questionable by the side of your bed. If you don't use it, you don't see any benefit from it. If you use it, you will see benefit from it. When you stop using it, you will no longer see any benefit from it. You only get the benefit from it as long as you use it."
How to Get Rid of Sagging Jowls from a Dermatologist! 2024 | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"You'll look more snatched, having less puffiness, because you're mechanically moving that fluid around by the actions you use with this device, kind of like a face roller, minus the electrical currents. But this has electrical currents, producing ATP, which a roller doesn't, so this is going to help stimulate all your skin, your collagen production, your muscle stimulation, etc. It's a great device. Honestly, I've had this, I had the Zip, and I think I prefer this to the Zip. It seems more intuitive. The Zip, for me, never quite gelled, but it's about you and your preference. Do I think one is technically better than the other? No, I think it's about you and your preference."
How to Prevent Skin Thinning & Boost Your Collagen! From a Dermatologist | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Microcurrent, like the NuFACE Trinity, also helps generate ATP from the mitochondria to enhance cellular production within your cells and enhance collagen production overall. That's all super helpful, but if you don't want to spend two hundred dollars on a device because you're never going to use it and it's just going to sit by the side of your bed... mine is right over there, that's the microcurrent NuFACE device. I use it with the gel, I just buy regular ultrasound gel."

"Microcurrent uses low-level electrical currents to stimulate facial muscles and ATP production, and this can help with temporary lifting, improved muscle tone, reduce puffiness. There are potentially long-term benefits with lifting with consistent use, and there are some studies, they're small, but there are studies to support the use of microcurrent. We definitely do need more. I also like NuFACE. I think the results are subtle and require consistency, but when used properly, microcurrent can be a nice supportive tool. I'd give microcurrent devices an 8.5 out of 10."

"For microcurrent I started with the NuFace that I actually had for longer than the LED mask, but never used. It took me seeing the results of the face mask to finally commit to using that one as well. I compared NuFace and ZIIP in a previous video, but to be honest don't think they are vastly different in effects. In the end it comes down to which one you prefer aesthetics-wise and which programs fit better in your routine."

LED and microcurrent - my 1 year BEFORE and AFTER Update | Doctors Review
"I already owned a NuFACE, but never managed to stick to it, so I wasn't able to judge any results. I later introduced it properly as a microcurrent device (288 euros). While I still use microcurrent, I switched to the ZIIP GX, and the reason why I switched from one to the other is not based on the results I got, but solely on things like weight, ease of use and look. I switched because I was in the privileged position that I was sent the ZIIP and had both of them at home, not because I wasn't satisfied with the first one."

"This is my favorite, the NuFACE Trinity. I like this device because it's ergonomically so friendly, which is a good thing to have in a microcurrent device. I did a whole treatment of microcurrent while I was sitting there in red light therapy, so I don't need to look in the mirror, it's not very complicated. It's FDA cleared, it makes sense, it's adding a little bit of electrical energy into the skin cells and it does help with collagen production. It's not like a big giant, big guns device."

"I still use my NuFACE Trinity. I've used it for a long time and it's still a great device. I like to do it right underneath the cheek, right around that cheek, and then I just hold it there. I'm energizing that skin, causing a little stimulation in the mitochondria of the cell, producing ATP, which is the energy of the skin. Our skin gets lazy as we get older, cell turnover slows down, which is why we need things like this to trick the body into producing collagen and elastin."

"If you already have a NuFACE, don't waste your money on a new one, wait for that sucker to break, because it still works. I had a NuFACE for years until it broke. It's about the modalities, energizing that skin and putting the effort into creating that wave of collagen."
⚡️Microcurrent is a low-level electrical current that mimics the body's natural current
"This one, the NuFACE Trinity Microcurrent Device, is easy to handle and ergonomically designed, it just fits in your palm, and I like it, but you're not going to get as good of a treatment as you would with something else because all you can do with this device is push up and press and hold. It's a good device, don't throw it away. You'll get a better result from something that does a true press and hold, because that's what they use in the office. Another reason I like this device is because you can tell when you have conductivity. There's a line that blinks to show you don't have conductivity, either the devices aren't on your skin or you don't have enough conductive gel. When I put both probes on my skin you can see the conductivity, and when I lift them off it goes away. So it lets you know if you're really getting true conductivity when you're using creams, because you can't really feel anything with this."

"It's technology that actually works. It's microcurrents that help stimulate your skin, help firm and tighten the skin. There's a lot of benefits that come from regular use, and it helps with lymphatic drainage as well, so you look less puffy. It's just a great product overall. Definitely not cheap, but it's one of the very few skincare tools that are pricey that I'm like yeah, that's worth it, so I love it. But it does make a difference. I was watching back, and I was like, I can tell I really went in on it that day. I really went in. I was like, the cheekbones are cheekboning, we're good, we're good."

"I've never had really good luck with this brand because most of the things I've had from them, the first one would charge after it was already dead. This one required too much commitment from me. It really needs you to do it every day, usually every morning. It's radio frequency, so you smooth it over your skin and the electrodes stimulate your nerves. The results on this were so short lived and not long lasting. It really requires you to use it every day and I just couldn't do it. I can do something a couple times a week but I can't sit there for 10 minutes a day doing this. I'm just not that good at that."

"I saw a subtle plumping effect that was very short-lived. I didn't get much in the realm of tightening. When you use this, it does kind of give a tingly sensation, especially around the forehead, almost like an electric shock sensation. It's not unbearable, but if you're sensitive you may not care for that. To me this is overhyped, but I do think a lot of people find it beneficial for skin tightening. They do see a sustained improvement throughout the day, it depends overall on the amount of laxity that you have. Do know that unless you're using the one with the red light, it's unlikely that it's actually changing much of your collagen. It really mostly works by stimulating underlying muscles, so it's only going to work if you use it, and I found this, of all the devices I have tried, to be one of the most laborious, and I did not stick with it."
10 WAYS TO TIGHTEN LOOSE SAGGY SKIN | Dermatologist
"You have the NuFACE device, which I reviewed a year ago. NuFACE is a microcurrent device that stimulates the muscles underneath the skin, and when those muscles are stimulated they may swell up a bit temporarily. So when I used this device I did notice a subtle plumping, firming effect on my skin, but it was short-lived, by the end of the day it was kind of gone. That is a device that a lot of people do see results with, but it's only going to be as good as you are at consistently using it. This is a beauty tool, there's not much in the way of research backing the claims that it makes, but a lot of people find it beneficial. In my experience using it, I found that it was kind of like a great way to tone the face, just to give a more contoured makeup look, but I would not hang my hat on it reversing laxity."

"I've used the NuFACE professionally, in clinic. I've literally told clients, hey, what I'm using on you right now is the NuFACE. You can literally get this at Sephora or Ulta and use it at home, and if you use it every day, you'll see better results than coming to pay me 150 bucks to just do it once or twice a month. If I'm using the NuFACE on someone in clinic, why can't they go home and use it?"

"I think we definitely still need more literature on the true efficacy, and comparing LED devices to microcurrent, I definitely feel there's more evidence in LED light devices. The other thing too is you have to use almost like a lubricant, a gel, ideally that is from the same company, so that works the best. This is something that I would use intermittently, really kind of before a big event, so that way my skin just looks tighter, looks more lifted, and most importantly helps to depuff. As far as the actual time, if you're wanting to use that as your device, you have to use it, I believe, like five minutes, so it's definitely much shorter, and then you have to use it I think like five to six days a week for about four to six weeks before you kind of jump into the maintenance. So overall the time commitment is probably very similar, it's just that I don't personally have the time to, every day, or at least five out of the seven days a week, use a device five minutes on my face. So for me personally I much rather invest in the LED mask, that has more evidence, and it's also just a little bit more friendly for me with my schedule."

"Have you heard of the NuFACE device? These are microcurrent devices that use a very small electrical charge to stimulate the smooth muscles under your skin to lift and tighten. The idea behind them is by using this electrical current you can stimulate the smooth muscles to contract underneath the surface of the skin, causing the skin to look tighter and lifted, and the results can actually be pretty impressive. If you want to turn back the clock by five years or so, literally in the span of a short at-home treatment, then these devices could definitely be worth your while."
