What the gurus are saying

The water gel texture feels like you're applying water or a light moisturizer, with zero white cast and no sticky or greasy feeling as it sinks in beautifully. The ease of application encourages consistent daily use, though the near-invisible absorption means it's easy to under-apply, so careful application matters. It does contain alcohol and fragrance, which some people prefer but others want to avoid.

"This has been my go-to body sunscreen for summertime. I really don't like wearing body sunscreen normally, especially the heavy duty water-resistant ones that feel like rubbery Barbie doll legs on my skin, but this is a Japanese J-beauty formula with some denatured alcohol in it that helps it dry down and form a film on the skin without that greasy, sitting-on-top feeling. It's a water gel texture that blends into my skin effortlessly, no white cast, no streakiness, no hardcore rubbing to get it to set. There's always a conversation that these Japanese sunscreens aren't the most protective, and maybe the protection could be higher, but the trade-off for the better texture actually helps me wear this consistently every single day instead of avoiding sunscreen. I forgot about how good J-beauty sunscreen is during the pandemic when it was hard to get, and I'm really glad I circled back to it."

"For body sunscreen I'm ranking the Nivea UV Super Water Gel EX number two, this is a newer discovery for me this summer with SPF 50+ PA++++ protection. I've emptied two of these and actually bought a much bigger pump size to keep using. It's a water gel texture just like the name suggests, not sticky, not greasy, not plasticky, and not gross on my skin like regular body sunscreens are. There's no white cast, it sinks in beautifully, and I feel incredibly protected with no tan lines."

"My personal favorite sunscreen in the whole video ended up being the Nivea UV Super Water Gel EX SPF50 PA4+. The older version wasn't my favorite, but this one just feels improved in so many ways. I recognize it won't be for everyone because it contains alcohol and fragrance, but I'm comfortable using those personally, and I actually like the smell, it has a nice floral scent instead of smelling like spirits. They say this product now has 70% toner in it, and it really does feel like you're just applying water to your skin, like a nice pleasant moisturizer, except it's an 80 minute water resistant sunscreen. The texture is perfect, not too runny, just thick enough to work with. The only real catch is that it's easy to under apply because it sinks into your skin so beautifully. It uses four sunscreen filters so you get absolutely no white cast. This is as close to perfect as I feel you can get in a sunscreen, as long as you're okay with those two ingredients."
