What the gurus are saying

Fragrance is the standout feature that wins loyalty but also the main caveat, since it's a common allergen that some gurus don't routinely recommend for sensitive skin. The formula itself earns real praise for its hydrating base of petrolatum, glycerin, lanoline, and the anti-inflammatory humectant panthenol, making it particularly effective for dry skin in dry climates. Those without fragrance sensitivity tend to find it does the job well, though it's not the marine-extract powerhouse some compare it to.

"I would always moisturize my skin with Nivea, which was a brilliant one. I don't know, Nivea oft was fantastic and still is."

"Nivea actually means snow white speaking to the white color of the cream. It does have fragrance and the fragrance is what keeps people loyal to it. Now, fragrance is a common allergen in skincare products. So, it's not something that I routinely recommend. It is an effective moisturizing formula. Without a doubt, it has withstood the test of time as a popular and effective skincare product."

"The popular Nivea Cream in the blue tin here, people will say that this is like an affordable version of La Mer, but it's really not. La Mer's whole claim to fame is the Marine extracts which are super hydrating; this does not have Marine extracts, but it's a great base. It does have fragrance, which is a common allergen. However, it has mineral oil, petrolatum, glycerin, lanoline, some people are allergic to lanoline. It also has panthenol, a humectant that is anti-inflammatory."
