What the gurus are saying

Dermatologists recommend Niserol as a budget-friendly, effective adjunct treatment for hair loss. The over-the-counter formula is preferred over prescription versions for its larger bottle size, better scent, and less drying formula. Gurus emphasize shampoo alone cannot treat hair loss and should be one component of a broader treatment plan, used as a targeted wash-and-rinse step.

"If you are more budget conscious and results driven, opt for Niserol, your ketoconole shampoo. I personally love to use a thickener shampoo on occasion when I want a blowout and nice volume or nice styled hair. But on a daily basis, I'm using Niserol to grow my hair. Shampoo should not be your primary treatment for hair loss. Think of your shampoo as only an adjunct or part of your routine or treatment plan."

"Another shampoo recommendation is ketoconazole. The brand name for this over the counter that you'll see is Niserol. This also comes in a prescription version of 2%, but over the counter comes in a much bigger bottle. Smells better and it's not as drying. So, I would stick with over the counter. Use it the same way you would use your selenium sulfide. Wash the areas, let it sit a few seconds, and rinse it off."
