What the gurus are saying

This multi-active toner pairs azelaic acid with AHAs, BHAs, and tea tree oil for acne and blackhead-clearing that most reviewers appreciate. The concentrated formula suits very oily, acne-prone skin best and may work most effectively at once or twice weekly rather than daily.

"The toner version uses azelaic acid, but it also has alpha hydroxy acids and tea tree in it too. Tea tree can be really good at minimizing acne causing bacteria and can help suppress acne and inflammation. AHAs are great for exfoliating. The azelaic acid is great in that too, but because of the strength of the toner, I would probably use it once or twice a week tops and so it does get a little bit confusing to incorporate. Personally, I don't think you need an azelaic acid toner that has alpha hydroxy acids, has tea tree in it. I think it's just too much and really makes it only applicable to people with very oily, acne prone skin. There's nothing wrong with the toner. I think it's just a bit more situational and it depends on your skin type as to whether it's going to work for you."

"The Nineless Control Targeted Acne-Prone Skin Toner does contain tea tree oil, so it has a light scent, but it's great for blackheads, acne, things like that. It's really nice for that. And brightening up skin, azelaic acid is great."

"So far really enjoying it the three, four times I've used it, very much enjoying it. And I'm excited to see what else the brand comes out with because they're super affordable. I think this acid serum is like 12 bucks and it's got snail in there and azelaic acid. Very happy with that one."

"This one contains azelaic acid, AHAs, and BHAs. It has a herbal scent to it from an anti-acne ferment. I really like it. It's a really nice toner. I use this for the acid, not so much the BHAs or the exfoliant in here. The pH is probably right around four, which is good for AHAs where typically you want it between three and four. Really nice product. 17 bucks, but I think I got mine for 11."
