What the gurus are saying

The five percent AHA and niacinamide work together to tackle dark spots on the underarms while keeping odour at bay, and most gurus prize it as a standout from the brand. It is fragrance-free and gentler than scented options, though those with very sensitive armpits may want to patch-test first since the acids can irritate if your skin is already reactive. One thing to know: it is a gel that needs time to dry, so you may want to wait a moment before getting dressed.

"I've been using the Necessaire Deodorant with absolutely no trouble. I was using another deodorant that has some fragrance, but I've backed off, especially as my underarms have been a little bit on the itchier side."

"I'm obsessed though with the Necessaire Deodorant Gel, it's amazing, it's so good."

"Something like the Necessaire Deodorant, this one has alpha hydroxy acids in it. It's also fragrance-free. Now if you have very sensitive armpits this could be irritating because what you're doing is you're including that acid underneath the skin, but these are formulated so that they can be for those sensitive skin areas."

"The Deodorant Gel is my top pick from this brand overall. I will always keep buying this again and again. It's different than other deodorants because it contains five percent AHA, or alpha hydroxy acids, and niacinamide, and together these can significantly lighten dark spots on the skin. It has no aluminum in it, so it's aluminum free, has no baking soda, no parabens, no synthetic fragrance. It comes in this [...] glass bottle, it's a roll-on, it's clear. Necessaire is truly a great and sustainable skincare brand, and this is one of their standout products in my opinion."

"I love the scent. It's like a musky vanilla Play-Doh. That's literally what it smells like. Musky vanilla Play-Doh. But it's nice. I like it a lot. And I like that it's a stick. It's creamy enough, but like the other ones were squeeze tubes and you had to rub them in. And I just like so much more convenient to just like roll on a stick. I use this most often and it's so good. Like it's so good. The Play-Doh maybe doesn't sound so great but it does have a really nice scent and the scent overall it just like works with all my perfumes which I really appreciate."

"I didn't like this and it's not because of the formulation or anything, it's just that I don't like gel deodorants. That sticky kind of... I just don't like them. I use a solid and I think that if this was a solid we would be having a very different discussion. I thought it was effective, I liked the scent and all that sort of stuff, I just didn't like wearing it. You have to dry yourself off before you put your clothes on or you're sitting there with your clothes on like this kind of waiting for it to dry. No thank you."
