What the gurus are saying

This lip oil earns praise for its easy reapplication thanks to the doe-foot applicator and its ability to stay put without being water resistant, though gurus split sharply on taste and texture. Several found it glossy, comfortable, and genuinely protective for outdoor use and those with sensitive skin like lip eczema, but others hit a dealbreaker: it has a strong sunscreen taste that lingers initially and can end up in your mouth despite the glossy finish. The applicator itself divides opinion too, some love the mess-free reapplication at the beach, others wanted a sturdier applicator. Give it five minutes for the taste to fade if you do try it.

"This is an Australian company, Glow and Go lip oil SPF 50, chemical sunscreen with no white cast. The salted caramel does have a bit of a caramel aroma to it. It's a glossy lip oil that stays on really well despite not being water resistant, which is my preference. It's nice, it's glossy, it's easy to apply, it's not too sticky or gooey and it stays on pretty well. You obviously need to reapply it. It doesn't quite have the longevity of some of the others. It comes in a few other flavors and shades, coconut and watermelon. This [...] salted caramel one has a slight pinkish hue to it and a little bit of a hint of shimmer as well. [...] It's 0.15 oz, and the packaging is a little sneaky because it sort of looks like you're getting a lot but you're really not getting very much."

"The last time I tried an SPF 50 lip oil, specifically the one from Naked Sundays, I loved it at first, and then one day I saw it in my mouth."

"I bought two of these because I was excited to see an SPF50 lip oil widely available at Ulta. It only took me one time getting that lip oil in my mouth and now I think I'm a hater, I don't think I'll ever forget it, it was so awful, horrifyingly bad. I don't think I can ever do another SPF50 lip oil again if it tastes that bad."

"This is Naked Sundays SPF 50 Lip Oil. It's actually nice, it really feels comfortable, and it doesn't have a horrible taste to it. This brand did a great job on this product. The one catch is that technically this does have my allergens in it, so I kind of hope Ulta continues to expand their selection of this brand."

"I have one from Naked Sundays, this is their Glow + Go Lip Oil, and it's completely clear. It goes on beautiful, it's stunning. I always get compliments on this because when it just melts into your lip it has a really nice hyper gloss sheen. My one beef with this is it has this very flat applicator that's so flimsy. I was expecting a chubby, do fit and it's not. I mean it gets the job done and you can just lay it on the lip and slide it, it deposits the product nicely, but I want a chubby do."

"The reason it is innovative is because this product sort of just ticks off a whole bunch of things I needed in an SPF lip product. The main thing that made a difference for me is actually just the fact it's in a doe foot applicator. I know I have kind of mixed feelings on this because it is kind of gross, like you are putting it on your lips and then dunking it back in, but it is preserved so it should be fine. It's just mentally a bit gross, I guess. But all of that is not an issue because it just makes it so much easier to reapply. It's so much less messy. It's really easy to just get it on your lips. You don't end up with sticky fingers, and that sticky finger issue is such a big issue when I'm at the beach. I just don't want sand all over my stuff. I want to be able to get the lip gloss onto my lips without touching it with my fingers without risking sand. It also just acts like a regular lip gloss. It smells really good. They've got four different flavors. I've tried watermelon, cherry, coconut, and those are all really nice. Their salted caramel, which I'm a bit more iffy on, it sort of has this coffee-ish caramel aroma."

"It reminds me of [...] Hawaiian Tropics, something like [...] that. Like a very old fashioned sunscreen. [...] After a good five minutes, that sunscreen taste kind of goes. It does leave and the stickiness does calm down. I feel like you need to give it a minute. [...] However, it's very, very glossy. [...] It's nice. I do like Naked Sundays. I'm going to use it. I will continue to use it up."

"The Naked Sundays Glow and Go Lip Oil is an SPF 50 plus lip glow oil. It pats in quite light, it's not like an oil oil in the sense that your lips is going to be shiny all day. I feel like it's got good staying power as well, like you can have a few drinks with this without it like transferring too much. I like it."

"It's called Naked Sundays lip oil and it really does what it's supposed to do. It's literally a lip oil but it's an SPF 50, which is nice."

"I have been reaching for the Naked Sundays lip oil for working outside purely because it lasts on my lips for a really long time and I cannot be bothered to be running inside to put on some lip product every like 20, 30 minutes while I'm mowing the lawn and pulling weeds and working in the dirt. [...] I spend a lot of my weekend outside these days. I need a product that's going to keep my lips hydrated and moist [...] because my lips can get really dry, and I'm very prone to lip eczema so it's important to keep things moisturized. I like that this has SPF. This doesn't bother my eczema at all, and I'm pretty sensitive."

"Naked Sundays has like a bunch of really great sun protection products and I was like ooh a lip product with SPF this sounds interesting but when I tell you that this did nothing it literally did nothing. The second I applied it I wouldn't notice anything. It's just such a lightweight oil that I don't even think moisturize is in its vocabulary. I guess this product could be used over top of a lip balm but even with the applicator and trying to apply it it would be difficult. I tried giving this product a shot so many times, I really tried to give it a chance, but it gave us nothing."

"These come in a lot of shades and it is a really subtle tint. The way I actually use this is I will put whatever lip color I want on for the day, lipstick or whatever, and then I put a layer of SPF 50 over it to keep my lips protected. Our lips can really make us look aged because we lose collagen from our lips too. You can get skin cancer around your lips. I actually am a skin cancer surgeon in my real life and I do skin cancer surgery on people's lips all the time because people don't protect them. This comes in a lot of different shades, which is what I love about this one. It is unique. Whatever SPF lip product you like, just make sure you are using it."
