What the gurus are saying

Gurus are divided. One expert praises Murad retinol for being moderately potent. However, a dermatologist raises serious concerns about the formula, flagging comedogenic and irritating ingredients (isopropyl tape, fragrances) that may compromise already-compromised skin barriers, and citing a personal experience of significant under-eye damage. The consensus leans skeptical on value and safety for sensitive or barrier-damaged skin.

"With the first ingredient water and then silicones, so it's going to have a silky finish. The third ingredient is isopropyl tape, which is comedogenic, plus they put in Alpha isomethyl ion and citronellol, which are fragrances that are very irritating. And already with acne you have a damaged skin barrier, so why would you put irritance into this particular product? My impression is this price tag is very unfair and it's just not worth your money."

BRIDAL SKINCARE MISTAKES
"I tried retinol under my eyes and essentially burnt my skin. It was the Murad range. I've got dry, thin skin under my eyes and no matter what I do with makeup it's damaged. The skin barrier is just the wrinkles basically. I never used to have them until I did that. Any kind of irritation reacts so badly because the skin is so thin there. There's not much fat to work with, there's not much room, so when a mistake gets made you get to see quite quickly."
