What the gurus are saying

Gurus split sharply on tolerability. One reviewer found it significantly painful despite high pain tolerance, with severe discomfort lasting hours post-treatment and sandpaper-like skin texture that contradicts marketing claims of being a quick lunchtime procedure. A dermatologist praises its versatility for early prevention and subtle brightening, positioning it as effective for mild aging concerns and texture refinement. The core tension is between clinical results and patient comfort during and immediately after treatment.

"It was painful, I was tearing up the whole time. I'd say I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but the Moxy was really rough. I hate when companies say it's a fast and easy, low to no downtime, over lunch procedure, because you don't want to go back to work after that. For the first two hours, I was in pain. They gave me a little bottle of product to manage it, and I finished it within probably half an hour of my car ride home, so I had to stop at Walgreens and buy more. It's not really a lunchtime procedure unless you have a very, very, very high pain tolerance and you've done it before. I don't think most people want to feel like going back to work afterwards. After you do it, your skin brings the damage to the surface, dead skin cells, and my skin feels like sandpaper. The first two to three hours after the laser it burnt, and I was spraying product on it basically continually."

"The Moxy for some reason, I really, it was painful. I was tearing up the whole time. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, and it was still very painful. I love how they say this fast and easy, low to no downtime, it's an over lunch procedure, but I hate when companies do that stuff. You don't want to go back to work after that. For the first two hours, I finished a bottle of pain relief within probably half an hour of my car ride home and had to stop at Walgreens and buy more. It's not really a lunchtime procedure. I guess if you have a very, very, very high pain tolerance and you've done it before, then maybe consider it, but I just don't think most people want to feel like going back to work afterwards."

"Another brand is Moxy. If you have someone who's just starting to see those signs of skin aging or someone who isn't seeing those signs of aging but wants to prevent them from really ever showing up, that's where this type of laser really has a role. These lasers are targeting the very superficial aspects of the skin so you can get some brightening and some very subtle lightening of pigment, and then there is a deeper setting where you can get more pore refinement and some improvement in texture. When I'm talking texture, I'm talking about the earliest of fine lines."
