What the gurus are saying

This essence splits reviewers. Anyone with oily skin who encounters greasiness and an oil-like texture may want to ease off or patch-test first. Others find it beneficial for dry or compromised skin barriers and praise both the formula and the packaging.

"I have to say this essence, I don't know if I used too much, but it is really greasy and really oily. I am just looking fully greased up right now. I keep trying to rub it into my skin, but it's not really sinking in. It definitely feels more so like an oil. So I don't know if I'd necessarily recommend this essence. I've used many other essences that are super lightweight and fast absorbing into the skin, which is what I thought this was going to be. Unless you have really dry skin, I would say maybe stick to other essences from other Korean brands."

"No alcohol, no fragrance, no essential oils. I actually like it, especially if you want something a bit gloopy, but it's got nothing else in it. It feels a little bit sticky on the skin, which is nice because there's a bit of grip and you can put your moisturizer on top. No smell, which I love. I'm really happy for you to use this product. There are no antioxidants in it, so I'm even happy with the packaging. This is going to be good for you if you have a dry, damaged skin barrier, but you're not really going to get any other benefits. The thing about centella asiatica, I love it. I formulate with it, I put it in most of my products, I buy it by the 50 kg drums in my lab. But it's an ingredient that you put in with everything else. I like it working synergistically with tyrosinase inhibitors for skin of color so that you get brightening as well as soothing simultaneously. Korean formulas generally are very simple. They're really just about texture, calming the skin, and hydrating the skin, and if you have large pores and oily, acne-prone skin that means you need more actives in your skincare. But it's nice when you're young, and it's something I'm happy for your teen kids to even put on their skin."
