Vitamin K Retinal 0.1% Eye Cream.

"This product is the Retinal 0.1% Eye Cream. What's interesting about this is retinal by itself is a great ingredient because retinol is converted to retinal, which is then converted to retinoic acid, which is active in the skin. Retinal is a little bit more powerful and we're finding it more and more in serums. I think it's a phenomenal effective ingredient at a great concentration, 0.1%. So that alone I would say this is a good product, especially at this price point. But you add in Bakuchiol, which is an adaptogen to adapalene, so now you've got two precursors of two retinoids, retinal and Bakuchiol, that act on retinoid receptors but can have similar benefits in the skin. I would never use Bakuchiol in a serum by itself, but when you add it in with two other proven ingredients and you put it in a really nice squalane base, this is actually a serum where you see most retinal come in a more lotion or cream form. This one comes in a serum form, which is really interesting and can layer really well into your existing skincare routine. It's a unique product in terms of thoughtfulness, complimenting benefits with the ingredients, formulation, effectiveness, and then price. There's just so much going for this. It's a serum in squalane oil. Although it feels greasy initially, it absorbs very deeply and so it'll set on your skin."

"They've got caffeine in it, caffeine has limited efficacy but you tend to put it into an eye cream. It's also got retinal and peptides but at low percentages which I would expect as well. So this product is going to be good for fine lines but not very good for dark circles. [...] When they did the clinical studies that said 19% saw a reduction after 8 weeks, I'm not surprised at such a low number because honestly when it comes to dark circles in skin of color you need high strength tyrosine inhibitors and high percentages in combination, a cocktail of them, and there's not really enough in this product to be honest to see much difference in your dark circles. You're going to see a little bit mainly because the humectant factors of the glycerin water will separate those skin cells so light reflects more easily but it's not going to do much about the hyperactive melanocyte which is spitting out excess melanin under the skin. That's a safe product, no D alcohol, no fragrance, no essential oils so I do like it. I would prefer it if it was in an airless pump because antioxidants tend to have higher efficacy when there's no oxygen around the ingredients but for the price it is worth it. It is something I would recommend."
