"If you want an affordable niacinamide with a very thoughtful concentration, the Minimalist 5% Niacinamide is the one to use. If you want that dedicated ingredient in a dedicated step, this is one to use."

Products We HATE and LOVE from The Minimalist | Doctorly Reviews
"My favorite and the one I've recommended the most from the brand altogether is their 5% niacinamide. Niacinamide we've talked about at length before, and the concentration less than 5% is clinically functional. You can get great results, or as good as you could get from the supporting ingredient at low concentrations. There are so few brands that were brave enough to put forth that concentration and say this is your niacinamide product, you don't need more, five is enough. There's some good supporting ingredients in this as well. You add in things like a bit of ferment extract, oat extract, and hyaluronic acid, so you basically have a niacinamide serum that's hydrating and calming and soothing to the skin. Ferment extract has actually been shown to help with sensitive skin, some of that irritation, stinging and burning sensation, so it's a phenomenal ingredient to add into a facial serum. Niacinamide plus, it's got a little bit more, it's a little bit more exciting and it's going to do more for you. I think this product is a lot more interesting than, say, the 10% niacinamide serum from The Ordinary."

"Why would you waste time putting niacinamide on as one of your two vital layers instead of just putting it into your moisturizer? Unfortunately this one is not Dr V approved. I totally miss this one guys. I'm going to tell you go and buy the 5% not the 10%. But I would also say have a look at the rest of your skincare. If it contains niacinamide then you don't need to do this."

"I don't like obviously 10% we want to be going with a 5% and they do have a 5% version so purchase that one. What I love is got aloe vera juice as a first ingredient that's a very different and that means they've gone for a very anti-inflammatory formula so it's going to be good for sensitive skin. They put in niacinamide of course, emollient humectant, and then their preservatives. It's a very simple formula but it's an anti-inflammatory formula and I really like it."

"Minimalist has created better formulations, better products. One of their formulations that I absolutely love is the five percent and the ten percent niacinamide. I have personally tried the ten percent and I love it. This is going to work for all skin types. It is ideal. If you're using other products from minimalist, it might make sense for you to even get this one. This is something that will work on all all skin types. It is affordable."

What the evidence says.

Niacinamide
