What they liked

  • Natural dewy finish, not greasy
  • Lightweight enough for sheer to medium coverage
  • Sits cleanly under cream blush and bronzer

What they flagged

  • Feels heavier than claimed by end of day
  • Not ideal for oily skin or humid climates
  • Matte finish requires powder on top

What the gurus are saying

This tint earns consistent praise for its moisturizing formula and natural dewy finish, with hydration scoring top marks even for dry skin. The catch is weight: it feels heavier than advertised, which may not suit those with oily skin or anyone in humid climates who prefer a truly weightless formula. Application method shifts the look, a damp beauty blender gives sheerer coverage for a no-makeup effect, while fingers or a brush builds it to medium or fuller coverage.

"This is my top pick for a skin tint in this sale. It's a bit glowy but not over the top, wears beautifully, and has no added fragrance. Really great formula. The only thing is if you're looking for more coverage or a matte finish, I'd recommend you avoid it, but it's very flexible from super light to light coverage."

"I've seen people say it looks like something that might sit better on drier skin or work better for drier skin, but I have seen people with oily skin rave about this. I'm very interested to try this because it looks so natural on the skin and I do like a natural coverage for day to day. And it's that Hydro Grip gel concealer that makes me think it's going to be really nice. Gel formulas tend to sit really well on all skin textures, so I think that's going to be stunning. They're not over hydrating for oily skins. They're not so dry for drier skin."

Only THESE brands do this right! | The best skin tints that are actually tints.
"As you actually start to blend it in, as it starts to work with your skin, you just start to see your skin come through, and it leaves this beautiful finish. I would love to wear this somewhere where I really don't need to be wearing a skin tint, on a plane. I really do think that this is their best. I think they've incorporated what people love about the Hydro Grip textures, you know, that Hydro Grip primer, and really incorporated that into a really beautiful skin product. This is beautiful. I will say, when I first got it, I opened one and swatched it up my face because I was so excited to try this. I did use one shade on my cheek and my cheeks are quite textured, they're a little bit dry, they're a little bit dehydrated, and you could see the texture. I didn't have any skincare on, I just dragged it on my skin and you could see it was quite textured. So what I would say is use a hyaluronic acid serum before you apply it or something like that. If you have drier skin, do moisturize. Do have a good moisturizer before because I can imagine it having a slight, you know, a very obvious texture on drier skin."

"The milk one is stunning. The one from Milk is so beautiful and it's truly a skin tint. Like it's not crazy crazy coverage, you know? It really does just tints the skin."

"I trust Milk with skin. Right. Their skin prepping products. Love Hydro Grip. Their Pores Eclipse range I think is really, really beautiful as well. I'm imagining in my mind, Hydro Grip Primer texture. A gel with tint, like the name would suggest. Right? A gel tint. I feel like a tint that is a gel formula is going to be really great for those people who are a little bit more oily, who maybe want a tint but don't want skincare heavy ingredients or a skincare moisturizing like texture. Gels are beautiful textures and formulas on oilier skins."

"I have been using this non-stop since the spring. I love the formulation. It's lightweight. It provides a light to medium coverage. You can build this up to a full coverage if you need to. And I love the ingredients in here. There's a lot of skin care ingredients like a triple hyaluronic complex which helps to deeply hydrate the skin. There's squalane in here, niacinamide and of course the list goes on. This sits really nice underneath other types of makeup products like cream blushes, liquid blushes, cream bronzers. Everything that I have applied on top of this has sat really nicely. It's longwearing as well and it gives a natural dewy finish to the skin which I personally like. So, if you love matte skin, you probably won't like this unless you just use some translucent powder on top of it. But, I think this is going to be exceptional coming into the winter months when we lack that moisture and we're looking for that natural dewy glow to our skin. I think this is going to be exceptional and it's great for all skin types. I have combination skin and I'm also very acne prone. This never breaks me out. It doesn't clog my pores."

BEAUTY HITS & MISSES | WHAT'S WORTH YOUR MONEY AND WHAT TO COMPLETELY SKIP! A BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW
"The next fave is the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Gel Tint. Now this is amazing, this is a product that does not cause breakouts. This is Milk Makeup's newest launch. I'm in shade four which is pretty good for this time of year, but I also have shade five which would be better for the summer, the spring summer months when I start to develop a little bit more of a tan. Now this has a tronic acid complex which means that this contains three types of hyaluronic acids to plump and hydrate the skin. There's also [niacinamide], squalene, and aloe in here which is lovely. There's also Blue Agave extract which helps your makeup to grip together without fading. It allows everything to grip together for at least 12 hours according to the brand, and I will say to you that this actually keeps your makeup in place, especially all of the other products that you put on top of it. Nothing moves, nothing budges, and honestly nothing fades either."

SEPHORA VIB SALE RECOMMENDATIONS | SPRING SAVINGS EVENT 2025 - SKINCARE, MAKEUP & HAIRCARE
"The one product that I feel you need to try is the new Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Gel Tint. I have it on my skin today and I can't get enough. I love how moisturizing this is. It gives that nice glow and dewiness to the skin. It just looks like your skin but better but healthier. And it's not greasy. It's not super shiny on the skin. It just gives this nice healthy glow to your skin and I just think it is beautiful. It is that true light to medium coverage. You could possibly build this up to a full. I'm actually quite content with the medium coverage that this gives. If you use a foundation brush this will give you more coverage. If you use a damp beauty blender or a sponge of some kind it will give you more of that sheer coverage. So it just depends on what you're looking for. But this has a trialic acid complex."

"You can tweak this formula to make it work for you whether you have normal or more dry skin. It's a skin tint that needs a bit of skin care, and it's a nice bonus to have a few skincare ingredients in your tinted moisturizer or your skin tint. This also has a little bit more coverage than I would prefer in a skin tint. I definitely like the beauty blender application technique because it's just a little bit more of skin peeking through no makeup makeup look. But if you like a medium coverage, you're probably going to like this and you would probably do best to apply it with your fingers and then maybe blend it out a little bit with a brush. I scored this a three out of five on texture because it claims to be weightless and it definitely isn't weightless on the skin. Even with my dry skin, I can feel this product by the end of the day. And if you have oily skin, you're definitely not going to like the fact that this feels a little bit heavy on the skin. Or if you live in a humid climate, you're probably going to not like the fact that this has a little bit more weight than it claims to have. So it gets a three out of five for texture. Hydration, definitely a five out of five. My dry skin loves this without any additional moisturizers to kind of boost it up."

"They have a new hydrogrip primer with a tint in it."
