What they flagged

Nothing. None of the experts who reviewed it raised a problem.

    What the gurus are saying

The tubing formula allows this mascara to cleanly come off in tubes with makeup cleansers, sparing lashes from scrubbing. Some experts love the elongated lashes and easy removal, calling it a less expensive, easier-to-find alternative to Thrive Cosmetics. Others found the results underwhelming, with value as the main appeal.

"It's a Tubing Mascara. It really does give a good amount of lift and length. It stays on well, like doesn't get too flaky. [...] I like the Milani one. [...] It's really good. The longevity is good, it does get a little flaky in comparison to some others, but [...] it's barely different. $12.99 for this one."

"The Milani one's pretty good, very similar to this. [...] The tubing mascaras I do find provide a little bit of that detail-oriented application, and they don't clump on my bottom lashes the way regular mascara does."

"I later found the highly rated Milani Lash Extensions mascara and I love this one too. This is a tubing mascara, meaning it basically puts tubes of mascara onto your lashes, so when you use your cleansing oil or eye makeup remover to take it off at the end of the day, these tubes just nicely come off. This is like the Thrive Cosmetics mascara but less expensive and easier to find. I love love love this. It gives more of an elongated lash."

"I tried out the new Milani Tubing Mascara I purchased this morning. First impression, it does give a nice elongating and thick lash, but it's not as elongating in my opinion as the Thrive Cosmetics one. It's pretty good and a lot more accessible, you can just walk into Walmart and get it. So yeah, I like this one."

"The Milani got a two out of five score on the application because it applied very wet and it took a while to dry down, and it would transfer when I blinked so I had to do quite a bit of cleanup. [...] The lashes are long but they're a little bit on the spiky side, not very natural looking. [...] On the smudge ability, [...] this only got a two out of five on the smudge factor. It did smudge off if you touched your lashes. [...] For me, a mascara is number one if it doesn't have a high smudge factor. On washing off, it took five or six swipes, so I doused each eyelash in water and got them saturated like if I was in the shower and then I wiped them off to see if the tubes came off."

Honestly if I put this one on or this one on I couldn't tell the difference this stuff is half the price and it's absolutely amazing. [...] The Milani lash extensions just as amazing. A lot of days I layer them too because I just like to do that."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

    Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
