  • Works as bronzer or subtle contour

What they flagged

Nothing. None of the experts who reviewed it raised a problem.

    What the gurus are saying

The balmy texture earns consistent praise for looking skin-like and never feeling heavy, making it an easy everyday bronze that pairs well with serums and tinted moisturizers. Gurus appreciate how sheer it sits and that it works as both a bronzer and light contour without looking overdone, though some note they still set their face after and may reach for something with more coverage on days they want deeper definition. The conditioning fatty acids mean it won't cling to texture, and the shade range lets people find a tone that feels natural to their skin.

"I'm using one of my favorite golden bronzers, Quint from Merit, which is really great for pale people who still want a bit of that warmth and need a slightly more yellow, not orange toned bronzer."

"I'm going in with this Merit bronzer which I really love. It's just a really beautiful shade and it's definitely a dewy product without being oily."

"For my bronzer, I'm using my typical Merit bronzer in the shade Quint. I like to mix it with my contour shade, when I want something a little bit more warm, I use more of my Merit, and when I want something a little bit more cool, I mix in more of my contour. It really warms things up on the back of your hand so you can mix them nicely."

"I'm going to take my Merit bronzer, this is in Quint. You can see when I spray it on that bronzer it just really helps to shear it out. I haven't really been contouring my forehead or bronzing my forehead. As far as how many spritzes, I would say one to two depends on how matte the formula is and what finish you're going for, but I generally do one to two on my sponge. I love how soft this looks though, looks incredibly soft, but we are bringing a little bit of shape to the face."

"I've really been loving this Merit Beauty bronzer. I'm picking a little bit of that bronzer on that brush and dusting it just over the top of my nose. So less focus on contour, more focus on bronzer."
My current makeup faves & a lil secrettt 🙃
"So this is my bronzer, Merit. It's very pigmented, just so you know, very pigmented, and pretty creamy, so a little bit goes a very long way. I use this just here, just under underneath my jawline, and then sometimes I'll use it just under the tip of my nose. The color is really fantastic and I like that it's not quite as gray-purple as the powder. If you were someone who was interested in this product but you hate powders or something, or maybe it was just way too purple-gray-toned for you, this is a really good option."
These are the BEST Bronzers for Warm Olive SKIN
"I personally find this to have like a really nice balance of warmth in it. It doesn't have too much yellow but it's also not too neutral, it's not too orange, it's not too red. If you have more warmth in your olive skin, you want to find bronzers that have a little bit more golden in them, because that's just always what I find to be the most flattering when it comes to warmth in my skin. If it has too much red, if it has too much orange, sometimes the red can end up looking like really purpley on my skin and it just looks dead. This is just a beautiful shade, really natural, especially now that my hair is copper you can really see how flattering that is. If you have been watching my channel for a long time, you've seen me use this a million times like it's just such a go-to."
How to look Glowy NOT Oily
"With the Merit bronzer, I would say it's a little bit more on the sheer side, maybe slightly more hydrating. When you look at the sticks themselves, they don't look particularly dewy, but I think the formulas are well enough balanced so they're not going to make you look too dewy."
This is your new go-to Soft Glam makeup
"I recently picked up a lighter shade of the Merit bronzer which has been really nice. I really enjoy this formula, it's beautiful. It's like nice and hydrating without being oily."
How to achieve long lasting MATTE base makeup
"This is the Merit bronzer, it's a beautiful bronzer for my skin tone. I will say it is a little bit on the dewy side, so if you tend to be a little bit more oily you might not want to use it. However, the color is beautiful. I really love it. I think it's a nice formula, nice and hydrating. Plus I use it on the outer perimeter of my face so it doesn't really matter. It's all really going to come together when we go in with our powders and setting and all of that. So I'm just building up the warmth on my face."
    Beyonce’s makeup is perfection
"Now I'm going to bronze using Merit, which is the lightest one. I'm just going to warm up above my contour. This is basically just going to be like my typical base routine, but I am sort of trying to create a little bit more of a lift so that I have a slightly more oval-looking shape to my face."
A ridiculously in depth explanation of Bronzer vs Contour
"My bronzer, one of my favorites is this one from Merit. This is the lightest bronzer from Merit. You see how much warmer this bronzer color is? It contains a lot more of like this kind of goldy orange color to it, whereas the contour is looking really gray, almost purpley cool-toned brown."
An earthquake hits LA while I'm doing my makeup 😳
"I'm going to be using Merit, the lightest one, it's the lightest Merit cream bronzer. I like to focus this a little bit higher. I'm going to start by patting it because I want to make sure I'm not applying too much. Sometimes you go in with like one pat and it's like way too much pigment, you're like oh I got to wipe that off and then blend. So always start with patting, just adding warmth to the cheek. I've been having a really bad habit of bringing my product way too far in, which is just not flattering on me. I don't know why I keep doing it, so I'm really making an effort to keep it up a little bit higher, utilizing that point for precision around the hairline. Just add a little bit of warmth, you know, very simple, very easy."
    Emma Stone's makeup is PERFECT
"I'm going to be using my Merit bronzer in the shade Quint. I'm picking it up on my brush and really working that into the skin on the back of my hand to make sure I'm not applying too much product. This is a really great trick if you're someone who tends to be heavy-handed. Don't draw on your face. It creates a nice natural dimension to the face. Think more so dimension and not so much like trying to change the face."

"I'm using one of my favorite golden bronzers, Quint from Merit, which is really great for pale people who still want a bit of that warmth and need a slightly more yellow, not orange toned bronzer."

"I've also been really enjoying the Merit Bronze Balm in the shade Quincy. Same idea as a balmy contour, just a little more sheer. It has a bit more of a neutral undertone. These balmy products are fabulous for everyday looks when you just want a little hint of something but don't want to look too made up."

The BEST Makeup (& more) from November 2023
"I use this a lot for just everyday situations. It pairs nicely with tinted serums and tinted moisturizers. If you're somebody who likes to wear those kinds of products and you want to warm up the skin but not in a heavy way, like maybe it's too much to do a full-on cream contour, this balmy texture is stunning. I love it. I have the shade Quint."
    Reusing AMAZING New Makeup 😍
"I'm switching gears a little bit because I don't know if I've actually used this on camera. I've used it a couple times off camera. It's the Merit Bronze Balm. This is a really, really nice everyday kind of balmy bronzer. It's exactly what it sounds like. This to me is so great for this type of look that I'm picturing today. It's literally like a sheer bronzer, basically not completely sheer, but it's a balm essentially, exactly what the title is. I've been wearing this on the kind of vibe that I'm creating today, which is I'm wearing makeup but it all looks very skin-like. This is a product that I've been really enjoying for those situations. You can kind of see the balmy finish that it gives. I do usually set my face after using this still, but it never looks like too much, which is so nice especially for everyday. There's definitely situations where I feel like I want a little more coverage in my bronzer, but it's nice to have something a little less intense."

THE BEST HIGH END MAKEUP OF 2023
"Along those same lines of foolproof bronzer, this Merit Bronze Balm Stick is so good, I have the shade Quincy. It's very similar in the effect that it gives to the Laura Mercier one but this one is a balm so the formula is completely different, and this one's going to give you a little more hydration, a little more glow, very sheer. This one's a little bit darker and has a little more pigment than the Laura Mercier one. Another great one for no makeup makeup days or when you need to add a little something back into the face but you don't want to overdo it."

"The Merit is a stick bronzer and this one I wear in the color clay. I actually thought I was running out of this and I was going to need another one, but no. This is actually huge and will last forever. This is a really nice bronzer. You just scribble it around and then blend it in. It's very natural looking, easy to work with."

"For a higher end bronzer, the Merit Bronze Balm in the shade Clay has been a favorite for a long time. This is the one I'm wearing today. I love this one because it makes it so easy for me to put on the bronzer, especially where I want to control where it's going, like here by the side of my nose. And I want to get it up a little higher, it's perfect for doing that. I just do that and then blend it out. So I love that product."

"This is their bronzing stick in the color clay and I've had this one for years, I absolutely love it. It's just perfection for me. I love to contour my nose with it because I can really control where I'm going with it, and it's not super dark. It's not hard to blend. It is just the perfect contour stick. And it's a clean brand, so for those of you who are looking for some cleaner makeup, Merit is a really good brand to look at."
I Tried $250 of MERIT Clean Makeup | Mature Skin Review!
"I actually love this bronzer. The first time I tried it, it was love at first use. I have it in the shade clay, and it retails for $30. I really like this one because of the amount of control you get of where you're putting it. You can really put it just where you want it. I like this shade, it's not too warm, it's not too dark, doesn't get super muddy. It blends so easily and so beautifully. It doesn't look like you've done contour when you have this on. It definitely does what it's supposed to be doing by lifting the cheekbone, but it doesn't announce itself. It doesn't look muddy or dirty. So you can contour your face in a more subtle way."

"I've used this on this side of my face to do my bronzing. I like how warm it is, especially for the summer. This really warms up my face. It does have a little bit of a glowy finish but I like that. For something in a stick form that you can get a more precise application out of, I really love this Merit bronzer stick. This is in the color clay and it's such a great formula because it blends so easily into the skin."

"I just discovered towards the end of the year but oh my gosh do I love this so so much. I'm like where have you been all my life. This is the Merit Bronzer Balm. You get this gorgeous bronzer in this chubby stick. I love the chubby stick. I love the color of this. It's not going to be too dark for me and look too artificial. It's not too cool so that it won't look muddy. I usually use my BK Beauty 106 brush to blend that in. It blends so easily and so beautifully. This gives me so much more control than the products that I was using before. This contour has really been a game changer since I discovered it only a few weeks ago, but I absolutely love it."

"I think my new favorite is the Merit bronzing stick in the shade clay. The shade is perfect, it's not too orange, it's not too warm. It just gives me that perfect little way to contour and have it not look really obvious. I have it up here on my forehead, down the sides of my nose, a little under the cheekbone, down here on the saggy jawline, and providing I actually blend it, which sometimes I forget. This is a new favorite, I really love that, and it's so easy to blend."

"This is the Merit Bronze Balm in the shade Clay. The packaging is beautiful and it's just a bronzing stick. Much like the Persona products, this is so creamy that you don't really need to rub it hard on your skin. I use this to do my around the face bronzing warming up, my cheek contour, my nose contour, and under my jawline. The blend on this is just a breeze and it doesn't leave you looking muddy or dirty."

"This is a bronze balm in CN from Merit. I like to look in the mirror, and I like to look down and concentrate and focus on those areas where naturally my shadow occurs and just fill in those little bits. I like to fill in my nose here. I don't take it down because I don't need it there. This product blends in beautifully anyway."

"I absolutely love this stick. This is like one of my absolute favorite products ever. It has fatty acids in it which really condition and like lock in moisture so you know it's not going to sit in texture. The same kind of bronzer or contour you're going to use on your face is great to take through your eye socket as well just to kind of make a look really cohesive and really come together with whatever eyeshadow look you're doing. Something like a bronzing balm would be beautiful just to add a little bit of definition."
