What the gurus are saying

Gurus split on whether this gel-cream hits the mark. One found it genuinely refreshing for warm weather, with a pleasant dewy glow that fades from slightly tacky to comfortable within a few minutes. However, others flagged the gel component as heavy enough to read as sweaty shine rather than flattering glow, meaning those with sensitive skin or drier patches may want to use less product or reserve it for summer. The actual heavy lifting comes from the niacinamide inside, not the PDRN, which one expert considers ineffective in topical skincare.

"There's just not enough moisture here, not a lot of richness, not a lot of occlusivity either, so it's really not appropriate for people struggling with dryness. But I think especially if you're looking for an all-in-one type of cream, and when I say all-in-one, yes, I mean the hydration and moisture, but I also mean that 5% niacinamide. That triple whammy of benefits. You want your moisturizer to do the most, you want it to brighten up your skin, and you can get a lot of benefit from one product right here just with that niacinamide. Or if you have multiple needs from your moisturizer, maybe something lighter for the day and something more moisturizing at night, you might be able to get all of those needs in one jar. Might save you some money."

"The texture is actually more protective than just a straight up gel moisturizer would be. I really have been enjoying this one. In the warmer weather, when it's hot, when it's humid, when my skin demands lots of refreshing hydration and plumpness and I don't need as much occlusivity, this is going to do really, really nicely. I do notice a little bit more of that moist, dewy, glass skin kind of finish. This is honestly the finish I was kind of expecting. This is the look that a lot of folks have when they take off hydrogel masks. I don't usually get that, but this is actually giving a lot of that glow that I like. Sometimes this finish can be quite tacky and sticky, and I will admit there is a little bit, but it's not that much. The more that it absorbs into my skin, the more that starts to go down. As I've been testing this out, I haven't been finding that to be too sticky, at least not for much longer than like three minutes or so. But I do like the glow that this gives."

"It's got the peptide collagen hydrator combo. There's something about the gel in this formula that I find to be particularly heavy. I love a glow, but this is too much. I remember one time using this and walking out, catching a glimpse of myself in a reflection and my skin looked so sweaty. It was that kind of glowiness. The texture is more of a normal gel texture compared to their collagen jelly cream. I do try to manage how much gel to cream ratio I have. This is a situation where you really want more of the cream and just a little bit of gel will suffice. Otherwise, you will look sweaty. Extreme glossiness aside, it does make your skin look revitalized, especially if it's really dull. The pinkness comes from vitamin B12."

"They say despite its rich nature, the texture is lightweight and non-comedogenic. Absorbing easy without heaviness, making it suitable for all skin types, resulting in skin that feels firmer, looks brighter and glows with a hydrated glass skin-like finish. But I find a lot of their products to be quite average, including this one. Whilst it's not like leaving a film on the skin, it feels a little bit sticky on me. I think the gel cream part of it dries down a little bit too quickly for me and it kind of reminds me of an old fashioned gel cream that I would use as a teenager. I think this is nice in summer, warmer months. But for my dry bits I do feel like I need just that little bit extra. It's okay, but it's not bad."

"They gave us this Medicube PDRN pink collagen capsule cream, y'all. PDRN if you have not heard my PDRN rant, it is a scam. PDRN is not it. No, it's just it's just so unfeasible to think that that would ever work in skincare. The hero ingredient in this is 5% niacinamide. I'm telling you, the B vitamin that single-handedly is carrying the skincare industry."

Dermatologist Skincare Empties: What I’d Actually Buy Again
"This was gifted to me at the Amazon creator summit, and it is from Medicube. Their PDRN Pink Collagen Capsule Cream. PDRN in skincare is a complete scam. Small fragments of DNA that we're going to put on our face and they're going to be super stable -- the biochemistry makes absolute zero sense. PDRN, growth factors, all these molecular-biology-specific compounds, they're not doing much, maybe moisturizing the skin. At the end of the day though, I did actually end up liking this product, because it's a 5% niacinamide gel cream. It kind of has the consistency of ultrasound jelly. It's very hydrating and it's a nice moisturizer. I used it at night on my face and neck for about one or two weeks, and then I decided to also use it on the rest of my body -- which is how I went through it so fast. The fun thing about the formula is it has these little blobs within it -- a thicker opaque cream dispersed amongst a clear, colorless gel. I think a tween or a teen would really enjoy that."
