What the gurus are saying

Gurus who tested it praise the device's ability to enhance how serums and actives sink into skin and report visible firming and tightening effects, especially with consistent use over weeks. However, the read splits on practicality: some found it a pleasant part of their routine, while others felt the five-times-weekly commitment became a chore, and one reported skin irritation that resolved once the device was removed. One expert flagged a safety concern after seeing a reported case of Bell's palsy in a social media post, though causation was not established. Those with sensitive skin or rosacea may want to patch-test at a low setting first, and the airshot mode in particular works best with a gentle glide rather than direct pressure.

"This is the mini version, the travel version. This is like huge in South Korea. So, it's the little microcurrent. It has red light and blue light and it zaps into your pores, opens a little channel, and then your skin care absorbs really quickly."

"I really like this device because it really does combine a lot of the different features that you would find on separate devices into one, which actually makes it a pretty good deal. You can really experiment with these different modes and the different intensities of them to figure out what is your favorite, what you like to do, and what's going to give you the best results for your certain skincare goals. And those goals change all the time, right? Sometimes we're working on skin elasticity and other times we are working on texture and so I like that all the modes are in one device and I really enjoy using mine. I always feel like I'm getting a little bit of a facial experience when I use it."

"I'm tired of seeing this stupid Medicube Age R Booster Pro device being promoted on TikTok and tons of people buying it. It's intended to work by delivering an electrical pulse which acts as electroporation allowing for better penetration of ingredients. A user posted a TikTok saying that she had been using it for two days and developed Bell's palsy, and she stated clearly in her video that while she couldn't prove it was that and she wasn't accusing the device of causing her problem, she posted the video as a word of warning."

"It has a few different modes on the device so they have their booster mode which enhances absorption of active ingredients, the MC mode which is a microcurrent mode to target and volumize facial lines, the dermatop mode to stimulate skin to create a firmer facial contour, and the airshot mode which is essentially like electrical needles that improves pore elasticity without damaging the skin. I barely use this tool to be honest with you and I've only used it on like level one and with a beard it's not very comfortable so I personally do not use this tool that often. It's also not great for my rosacea but a lot of people love this product and a lot of people have seen great effects of it. There are very good before and afters of its transformative effects, not just from the space of one use. There is like one year's difference that you can find online that really shows the effects of this tool."

"It uses electroporation, which essentially means it's like sending these electric pulses into your skin in a safe way, creating almost like passageways for your skincare products to penetrate your skin. The tests on it show that this worked on drugs, so you can kind of make some guesses that this can transfer over to the use of skincare products, but it's not always that simple. It's more of a good concept. I used the device for about 30 days and I felt like it did help my skincare products penetrate a little bit deeper, but it felt like a chore to use it mostly because it says you have to use it like five times a week to see the best results. The more you use it, the better the results, and it just started to feel like a chore and I wasn't seeing enough of a difference. At some point I did feel like my skin felt irritated. I can't tell you if that was because maybe it was helping my skincare products absorb more and some of those products were things like retinoids, or if the device was actually irritating my skin. Once I removed the device from my skincare routine, my skin went back to normal after a few days. I don't really know how I feel about the device. I'll probably use it occasionally because it did feel nice, you're kind of massaging your skin with it, but if you want to invest in a skincare device, I think there are better ones that have so many more studies behind them and are easier to use."

"I'm not a huge fan of the Medicube one because it does have fragrance. I wish they made that formula without any fragrance. It really does bother me when Medicube decides to use fragrance in their formulas because they have so many good formulas and I absolutely love the Medicube device. But yeah, that serum I just can't get behind because of the fragrance."

"I figured out that I have to use the air mode with the edge of the device and not rubbing it directly on my skin. Just a nice gentle glide. So much better. When I first started using this one, I was so ready to not hop on the bandwagon because you guys know I am the last person to buy into hype. Usually, if a product's really overhyped, I am not afraid to be the one person that's critical of it. But I have to say, this has won me over. I feel like there's a reason it is so viral and why so many people use it. This is going to be a part of my nighttime skincare routine forever."

"I am still loving the Medicube Age R Booster Pro. This is more for the superficial layer of the skin. I tend to use this when I feel my skin just doesn't look great, and it's actually fun to use during my routine. It helps really boost the overall appearance of my skin. The new booster gel is the best that they have. It feels luxurious using it together, and afterwards the skin is glowing. This absorbs into your skin and hydrates it."

"Medic Cube Age R Booster Pro has five modes and is tremendously entertaining. I am still kind of in awe of the sheer strength of this device. With devices, other than a few beeps or buzzes, we can't feel that there's anything happening, but with this you really can. I feel like I was on a really good run with this with the tightening, firming, and glowing."

"From Medicube's Age R line, their Booster Pro. This is my favorite right now, it's the one I am using all the time. Booster Pro has four different modes and three of those modes are upgraded versions of their previous individual devices. You can use all four modes. This device can be used with your own skincare, you don't need any special conductive gels. Air shot mode level one is used after cleansing on dry skin. Level one already just feels really intense for me. This was created to mimic the effects of micro needling without actually using needles, and for anyone who's tried micro needling the results cannot be denied. First of all there's that skin tightening effect which is great for pores and texture, but also microchannels are created in the surface level of your skin so that skincare can absorb better."

"This is the facial device that I use the most consistently from Medicube. I love all the modes even though you can use every single one in a single routine, I don't do that all the time. I will always use two though. I also like that the cycles are pretty quick, 5 minutes each. The shot air shot mode is definitely not an everyday thing for me, it's something that I'll do every few days maybe twice a week. This is for core care. I do feel the difference. This is something that you use on dry skin after cleansing. I focus on the areas that are more porous for me which is definitely around here, the T-zone. You really feel like there's a bunch of electric needles just prickling away on your skin. These are also creating passageways so that your skin care absorbs and works better as well. This lightly exfoliates and it's good for skin that is prone to oiliness, congestion and acne. I have to say I love the way the booster mode feels, this is the glass skin mode. This is great to use with certain serums that I really love, especially the peptide ones. Those are the ones that I really want to help with the penetration. Whether they need it or not it doesn't hurt. It's even better when there's some slip to the serum, and this even works with really bouncy hydrating serums as well. Otherwise when a formula has already completely dried down, rather than pulling and dragging, just focus on certain areas of concern with the microcurrent and Derm shop mode. This also makes skin look like glass to me."

My Ultimate At-Home Facial
"This has four different modes: booster mode, microcurrent mode, Derma shot mode, and airshot mode, each with multiple levels. The Derma shot mode is particularly good for firming up the contours of your face and targets signs of aging. It will really help moisturize your other skin care and get it to absorb. The whole firming thing is kind of amazing. You can really feel it making your muscles contract and release, you can actually feel this working on your muscles in a way that you can't necessarily with microcurrent. I use this particularly for areas where I have more tension lines, and I also use it along the contours of my face with upward swoops, figure eights, and circles. If you use it around the eye area and lip area, just make sure it's at a lower setting. This is intense."
