  • Unproven penetration science

What the gurus are saying

This serum's barrier-disrupting mechanism divides reviewers sharply. One loves it enough to own multiple versions, while another found it caused breakouts and saw no benefits. The product temporarily disrupts the skin barrier to speed ingredient penetration, which poses real risks for people with rosacea or easily irritated skin. One experienced breakouts within a month; another treasures it but pairs it with other Medicube devices instead.

Revisiting VIRAL Korean Skincare: Have My Opinions Changed?!
"I loved the original Booster H. I still don't want to give up my original Booster H, these are some of my most prized skincare related possessions, I just don't use them with Medicube skincare as often anymore. I feel like the devices are where Medicube shines."

"They say that the Medicube AGE-R Booster H creates temporary passageways on the skin to help rapidly penetrate active ingredients. Why does that not sound like a nightmare for somebody with rosacea? I guess another way of saying this is that it temporarily disrupts your skin barrier. A cosmetic safety assessor and toxicologist mentioned that not only can these products help active ingredients penetrate the skin like the brand says, but also some ingredients that don't really need to penetrate the skin any deeper than they were designed to, which can be some not so good news for those with easily sensitized and easily irritated skin, like rosacea. So that is something to really, really consider when spending so much money on something like this. Like, does your skin really need this? Can your skin even take this kind of temporary disruption? I'm more on the side of, you know what, my skincare has been working absolutely fine up to now. I don't think I really need them to penetrate the skin any better than they already do."

Why Are People So Obsessed With These Skincare Products!? Rhode, BYOMA, Medicube, Slurp Laboratories
"The whole point of this is it's meant to help product penetrate better, meaning you get the most out of your products and kind of boosting its benefits. Do I know if the science behind this is real in any way? No, I don't. Do I think my skin has been looking any better from this? No, I actually don't. What it did do, however, is break me out. I don't think my skin looks any better for it. I have only been using it for just over a month. Maybe with continued use it might work better, I don't really know. I do not think it's worth spending a lot of money on something like this. I don't really think I need this serum to penetrate better. I think my products work just fine with my hands. I think this is a very expensive luxury that feels nice, but other than that, I don't think it really did a lot for my skin."
