What the gurus are saying

Customizable wavelengths set this mask apart: you can use red light alone, red with near-infrared, magenta (red plus blue), or add pulse mode, options most masks don't offer. Reviewers praise the mouth coverage and strong irradiance, but wavelengths sit just outside ideal specs, and gurus split on whether pulsed light truly improves product absorption as claimed.

"If you're looking for a red light therapy mask and you struggle with pigmentation, I cannot recommend highly enough the new version of my Sama's Prana Mask. You can separate out near infrared light, red light, you can use them combined, and it has the bonus of magenta light, a combination of red light and blue light. It also comes with deep near infrared around the bug bear areas that we have around our eyes and lip area. Love this, the most comfortable designed mask I've tried this year. If you're looking for a mask where you can separate out near infrared, this is the mask for you."

"Sama was kind enough to send me their Prana mask. This is a mask you guys have been wanting me to review, and some of you have already purchased it. Yes, it has diodes over the lip area, so this is fabulous. It also has the option to do red light only, red light plus near infrared light, red light plus blue light which is magenta light, and it also has the option for pulse LED. So this little mask has a ton of options for those of you looking for a mask that covers the lip area, or if you just want to single out a particular LED modality like magenta, which will help with antibacterial and help rosacea and help healing, and for those of you who might not want to use near infrared light. I usually do the 9 minute program that includes red light and near infrared light, and I always use my Sama Green Robo serum. I did a whole video on how the serum boosts the red light effectiveness almost by three times, so I just put this right over my serum. I let it soak in for a few minutes; they recommend about 20 minutes, then I do my 9 minute treatment. You might want to towel off the serum before you put on the red light gel, but I just don't see the purpose."

"I'm absolutely loving the new Prana mask. This is a pulse light mask with red and near infrared. I did a deep dive on this new mask. I think it's made a big difference in the retinol... in my skin. Red light has probably made the biggest difference in my skin compared to any other skincare device that I've tried, and as you can see, after stopping it and restarting it, it's really been helpful."

🥊 Which is Better? The LED Mask or LED Panel | Antiaging Device
"I've been asked which LED light therapy device is better, a panel or a mask, so I'm sharing my thoughts after using the Pulse LED Light Panel as well as the Mela Prana LED Light Therapy Mask. LED is my device of choice, which is saying a lot because I'm a device junkie. Not only does it provide incredible anti-aging benefits, it's non-invasive, and it supports overall skin health, which is becoming increasingly more important to me as I age. I have a lot of different LED devices and they all have different benefits, and I do use them all, but I've used these two devices pretty much exclusively since I got them. The main reason I'm reaching for them more than my other devices is the pulse light technology. Pulse technology does a couple of extra things: it improves product absorption, so pulse light makes cells expand and contract, almost like they're breathing. When the light is on it makes the cells bulge."

"Not a great mask for me but could be for someone because the wavelengths are just a little bit too far off and I don't want the blue and I'm not sold on the pulsing"

"This is actually the mask that I've been using the most lately because of the different modes: the red light mode, the near infrared, and the magenta. I really love my experience with this mask. I really do see a difference when I take it off. When I'm consistent with this mask I really notice that some of the discoloration that I have on my cheeks has definitely lightened. I still have the discoloration but it's not as pronounced. I do have freckles, I do have some facial redness as well, and I've just noticed that my complexion looks a lot brighter and a little bit more even. With consistency I feel like this can really work and you can really achieve a nice even complexion, but we're all different, we all have different types of hyperpigmentation, there's inflammatory hyperpigmentation, melasma, there's different kinds, so some of these masks you do need to be careful. For those that do have melasma and deep hyperpigmentation the red light mode is a nice mode to use, but do your own research, I don't want to say otherwise because I'm not a dermatologist, I'm not a professional when it comes to red light therapy, but I just know that there are different settings and wavelengths."

"The Maysama Prana LED Light Therapy Mask offers red and near infrared light plus the option to use pulsed light. It features 138 LEDs across four wavelengths: 630 and 660 nm red, 850 nm near infrared, and 450 nm blue. The red and near infrared wavelengths aren't spot on the ideal numbers but are very good, while the blue light is a little off. The irradiance for red and near infrared sits at 40 to 45 mw/cm2, right where it should be, making it one of the stronger masks on the market. It also covers the mouth area completely, which most masks don't, though that means going about 9 minutes without being able to snack or drink. Maysama claims the pulsed light mode improves absorption and bioavailability of active ingredients and is more effective for ATP and collagen production, but after looking into the research she isn't convinced by the data on pulsed light and it isn't a selling point for her, and neither is the blue light option. She also found the blue light's pulsing a little irritating for her mind rather than relaxing. The mask has a handy portable charger and a silicone strap that adjusts to face shape, but she found it missing a strap over the top of the head to stop it sliding down when upright. After three months of near-daily use she didn't notice changes in her skin, though she attributes that to already having used LED masks faithfully for over two years. Her overall take is that whether it's better than other masks depends on individual preference: the pros are its strong irradiance and mouth coverage, the cons are that it doesn't quite hit the recommended wavelengths, and she remains unconvinced by the blue light and pulsed light features specifically."
