What the gurus are saying

Experts split on whether this microfiber cloth thoroughly removes makeup with just water. Others found it doesn't fully remove makeup and felt it was quite tough on the skin, questioning whether the water-only formula can truly work as advertised.

"Everyone always says the original Makeup Eraser cloth removes your makeup completely just with water, but it does not, you cannot remove your makeup completely and properly with just water and a cloth. I personally do find them quite tough on the skin and I find they don't remove makeup well. I don't think this is a brand that can give us anything else impressive, I think they missed their calling to make proper makeup remover products to pair with the cloth instead of telling people they don't need a makeup remover at all."

"This is a product a cloth that has millions of these tiny little fibers that work as a suction to lift all of the makeup dirt and oil off the skin"

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
