What the gurus are saying

The palette's matte shades and cool color story earn consistent praise for depth and wearability, from everyday neutrals to winter-appropriate looks. However, the shimmer shades split opinion sharply: some find them stunning for special occasions, while others report the chunky, glittery shimmers fall heavily onto cheeks with little payoff on the lid. Those drawn to cool tones and willing to skip or save the shimmers for holiday wear may find real depth here; anyone seeking reliable everyday shimmers or who dislikes chunky glitter may want to swatch first.

"I'm going to take this on that same brush and kind of like set the drift eyeliner with this and then use the brush to create a bit of a shadowing. I really love that. These colors are honestly not exact, and I'm usually pretty good at matching exact colors, but I feel like these blues are quite niche, but I'm loving the effect that it's giving."

The Tutorial You BEGGED Me For!! (My TikTok Live Makeup)
"I only brought two eyeshadow palettes, both of them being the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette. I used this shade as my transition shade, and I used the same brush and just pinched it and went along that lower lash line. I wanted a little bit of warmth so I took that pink shade and chucked a little bit of that into the crease as well. The eye look was honestly really simple. I took this sparkle color on my fingertip and just put a little bit of that all over the lid, and then I took the tiniest bit of a brown shadow and did just a little bit right up against that lower lash line, since I really wanted to make sure I had little details since I was going to be on camera."
FULL FACE OF MAKEUP BY MARIO...
"I feel like Mario always does the most incredible eyeshadow looks. My favorite favorite ever is the Ethereal Eyes palette, the original one that is not around anymore. My hope is that they are reworking this maybe into that newer packaging and I hope they'll bring it back, but I'm not going to use this one because it's not available. But it does look like the Moonlight one is still available, at least on his website. Let's start off with this shade, third shade in from the top row, and just start to sweep this through the crease and a little bit above to smooth out that transition area. Next, I'm going to go into this shade to add a little bit of depth on the outer portion of the lid, and then drag that into the crease as well. We're going to take this color right here, which is a beautiful kind of smoky mauve, and add that on the outer portion to further deepen and sculpt out."
Here's What I Bought at Sephora... 👀
"I did end up picking up an extra Ethereal Eyes palette from Makeup by Mario, just in case, I'm just going to put this in my backstock so that if anything happens to my first palette I don't have to worry, because apparently this is still limited edition. I feel like the blue eyeshadow is something very new for me, so that took me a while to get the hang of what exactly I wanted to create with that, but overall I'm really happy with how everything looks."
The ONLY Makeup I Need Right Now...
"We're going to start off with one of my favorite palettes right now, the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette. This is limited edition but it's back apparently, at least for a little bit. I'm going to mix these two shades to start, I need a little bit of a lighter transition shade before hopping into the main palette I want to use."
Mario's NEW 🌙 Moonlight Ethereal Eyes PALETTE 😱
"I love this palette. I'm so happy with how the look turned out. The blue was the color, and even this topper color that had that blue undertone to it, those were the ones that I was the most curious about. It's very wearable. You obviously would have the ability to do something way more intense than what I did, but this is approachable, even good for everyday. I really loved using the Navy shadow as more of an eyeliner for this look. I think it made it super wearable and it makes me very excited for holiday parties. This is going to be a gorgeous palette for winter and honestly year round because you do have so many of those neutrals in here as well and you also have toppers that do lean a little bit more warm. I feel like it offers something different still than the first palette just because it's way more cool toned."

"I'm using this brown shade from the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette to just set that liner and just kind of intensify that color, and the colors complemented each other so perfectly."

How to get Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Soft Baddie’ makeup look
"I'm grabbing the Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette from Makeup by Mario and mixing those two colors to create a slightly lighter color, just to set that eyeliner and build up a little bit of smoke. But again, I don't want it to get too crazy, and if there are any areas where I think I went in a little too much, I buff it out to make it a little softer."
here's the eyeshadow look you wanted to see
"Makeup by Mario, please will you bring this back please please. This is the Ethereal Eyes palette and it's just so perfect for this, but it was like a limited edition or something so I'm not going to use it, but it's so good, please bring it back."

"I'm going to use the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette, which is back. I don't know how long it's going to be back, but this is such a good palette, you guys. When they said it was limited edition I was so upset, but it's back. I'm going to use this color, which is my fave, place it in the crease, blending into my typical shape. It's maybe a little too cool toned. Then, using my Sigma E36 brush, pick up that same color and run this on the bottom side of my lower lash line. I'm going to pick up a slightly fluffier, rougher brush, the 15, and grab this kind of peachy color to dust over that a little higher, because that's where I see most of the warmth."
Are yall ready for a bridal makeup challenge??
"I'm going to grab the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette. I'm going to mix with my finger these two shimmers right here. This might not be so soft, is that too much? Oh no, that's pretty. I feel like that toned down."

"I'm going to dip into this Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette. I'm going to mix this color with that color just to get a slightly deeper color, and use the 03 brush to intensify this contour slightly, especially focusing it on the outer part of the eye, so the outer two thirds, just so we balance that a little bit. Then I grab my little blender and just soften so it's blending into the bronzer we put down. Intensifying the contrast up here sort of gives a little bit more of a lift to the eyes."

"Speaking of Makeup by Mario, the Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette is back. This is such a beautiful palette, so beautiful. You can see the colors that are my faves, but when I need a neutral look, immediately this is what I grab, especially all the little toppers, the finishes, they're so beautiful, sparkly and gorgeous. I just love it, I think it's fantastic. It has a perfect combination of cool tones with warmth, with the blush tones. He really nailed it with this one. I don't get excited about neutral palettes, and this is the first neutral palette I got excited about in a long time. It's at Sephora if you want to save a little extra money. It's just so good."

"This one is the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette. I don't really want to talk too much about these except to say that it is a gorgeous palette. I've used it in videos and I love it, but it's the kind of palette that I'm not really going to reach for every single day because of how the shimmers are in it. The Mario is more true neutral to gray and blue, but it has shimmers in it that are very chunky and very glittery. If you're not into chunky glittery shimmers then you really will have no use for at least three or four pans from this palette. It's a stunner, it's gorgeous. This is the glittery color that I have on my eyelids today and it's beautiful and I love it, but it really is for me I'll wear it like Christmas Eve and to make a video but not so much in real life. So if you're looking for something special for the holidays or for a gift I would recommend it, but for everyday use it's not what I'd pick."

SPRING Sephora Sale 2026! Best Makeup for Mature Skin!
"I love the Mario eyeshadows, but today I decided to use my Mario Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette, and I was really disappointed with this. The main thing was that the shimmers in this palette, they have so much glitter and so much fallout, and they don't give you any payoff on the eyelid. It didn't stay in place. You couldn't even see it. I had glitter all over my cheeks. I like the mattes in this. I don't like the shimmers. The only shimmer in this palette that is kind of like problematic is this white one, and I wish this one wasn't such a big pan because this is really a glitter fallout shimmer. So stay away from this one."

"If I ignore the shimmers I can do a beautiful everyday matte look with it. There's three silver shimmers in here, and I'm not sure that anyone needs three silver shimmers in one palette. There are three pans that I'm not going to use like on an everyday basis. I think they're both beautiful, it's just going to depend on what kind of colors you wear."

"I did buy a new palette specifically for this video because it just dropped about a week ago and I was so excited for it. It's a Makeup by Mario palette, this new limited edition palette called the Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette, and it is so beautiful. The first time I saw it I was like, I definitely need that palette, I need to at least try it. This palette is just stunning, it is gorgeous, and it's just such a special palette for the holidays. If you like to receive makeup for the holidays, if you like to buy yourself makeup gifts and then give them to somebody to give to you, this is going to be a beautiful, perfect holiday palette. The colors in here are definitely not the average things that you see in the average palette, but this one really spoke to me because it's on the cool side, it has some blues, it has some really pretty shimmers. The shades that I'm wearing today to do this eyeshadow look were this lightest one on my movable lid at the inner corner, then this kind of dusty mauvey color in the crease, then I went with this gray to deepen up and smoke out the crease, and then I put on some of this really dark navy blue, so pretty. And then I topped that with this gorgeous peacock shimmer. Oh my goodness, is that not just stunning, I mean look at those shades, so gorgeous."
