What the gurus are saying

These pencils earn consistent praise for their smooth application, rich pigmentation, and versatility across lips and eyes, with reviewers particularly drawn to specific shades like the cool-toned Wherever Walnut Light and the surprisingly wearable Universal Earth. The main thing to keep in mind is that they blend and smudge quite easily on the eyes, so pairing them with eyeshadow on top helps them hold their shape and gives you more control over the finish. Those after a reliable, multi-use pencil in thoughtfully curated shades have plenty of reasons to reach for these.

"I had one lip liner that I was like, I have to tell you guys about this again. This is the new Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil in the shade Wherever Walnut Light. I filled in my lips with this, so it's mostly what you see in the center of my lips. It's got a beautiful, almost lavender undertone, and it is stunning. If you are a cool-toned lip liner gal, especially if you have more of a fair skin tone, you're going to love that."

Did the NEW NARS Foundation Just Take First Place?! (Wear Test)
"I'm going to take my new Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil in the shade Wherever Walnut Light. I've been really loving this. This pencil is so pretty. I love the color, it's a nice soft pink. Normally I feel like I like to ground it with a brown, but maybe we'll try leaving it alone today."

My Unexpected FAVORITES from Last Month!!
"The first thing is the new shade of the Make Up For Ever lip liner. This is Wherever Walnut Light. It's the perfect kind of soft lavender pink, so very, very cool toned. It's what I've got all over the lips. I did deepen it with a little bit of a taupey lip liner as well. This lip liner leans strictly cool toned. If you love cool tones like I do, I've been absolutely loving that."
I NEEDED This Makeup Day 🤩
"I'm seeing this Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil in Wherever Walnut Light. I feel like this is going to be the perfect color for this vibe today. Fresh, soft pink. Stunning. I've applied this all over the lips and even filled it in."

"These are great as well. I'm wearing Total Taupe all over. I also love Anywhere Caffeine, Wherever Walnut, and Endless Cacao. Those are my top four, I would say. These are fabulous for lip liners if you're looking for some. That's honestly all you need."

"The one that I would buy immediately if it broke or if I ran out is a glitter eyeshadow and I'm wearing it today."

"Recently they sent so many content creators, myself included, the whole pack, every single shade of the Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil, and it was the first time I got to try more of their shades, and I just realized these really are just fantastic pencils. It wasn't just that we loved this one shade, it's that all of the shades are beautiful, they all serve really great purposes. They're smooth the way that they go on, they last long, they're pigmented. There's just something about these pencils, they're just done really really well. One of the shades I find myself using a lot and I did not expect is a shade called Universal Earth. When you actually look at it, it looks like it's going to be a really dark brown, so it doesn't look like a shade that you would want to use on your lips, but it actually has a lot of reddish undertones to it, and that's what I like about it. It looks beautiful on your eyes, it looks beautiful on your lips, it enhances any lip gloss that you're going to wear. It is just such a beautiful shade. One tip I will throw out there is if you are going to use these on your eyes, they blend really really well, meaning that they smudge really easily. I have not used them on their own. The way that I've been using these on my eyes, I have been using eyeshadow on top and I just take an eyeshadow brush and I blend it out more, I smooth it, I kind of take it."
