What the gurus are saying

Gurus praise how gentle and easy this serum is to slot into any routine, with a lightweight texture that won't irritate or cause fuss, making it especially helpful for those who can't tolerate pure ascorbic acid or are just starting out. The stabilized vitamin C form does brighten and may help with acne via antioxidant action, though experts note the trade-off: unlike pure ascorbic acid, it's unclear whether the derivative actually triggers the deeper collagen-building effects that smooth wrinkles. A few gurus flag the price point as high for a derivative form, while others see it as solid value for beginners and sensitive skin seeking a no-fridge, no-oxidation option.

"I really like this one because it's so gentle because they're not using that pure form of vitamin C ascorbic acid. This is a derivative or a stabilized form of vitamin C. It's not going to oxidize, you don't have to keep it in the fridge. It actually is a really nice brightening serum. Personally, I think it brightens the skin really nicely, not only if you have dull and uneven complexion, but I think it can be a helper product for brightening hyperpigmentation too. I think just overall it will rejuvenate that complexion for you, and then of course we've got some antioxidant protection in here as well. The derivatives and the stabilized versions of vitamin C can be sidekicks, they can be supportive ingredients in your skincare routine to your other collagen stimulating ingredients. But for sure where this one particularly shines is for brightening."

"It does not linger at all, it's just very generically herbal and goes away so quickly so I'm not too bothered by that at all. My experience with this, I have to be honest with you, it is not irritating to my skin at all. I really do like everything about this. It just feels really easy to add into your routine because it doesn't have that odd texture, it's not really oily or moisturizing, it's not siliconey, you don't have to really worry about pilling with this. You would just slot this into your regular serum point in your routine so it's really kind of effortless. You don't have to think about it too much. With vitamin C you kind of have to think about it a lot more especially when you're first starting to learn how to use it. You don't have to learn how to use this, you just use it like any other serum in your skincare routine. No refrigerator, no oxidization, no fuss. I think it's great for beginners especially but it's also great for sensitive skin that cannot tolerate any L-ascorbic acid. There's certain percentages that I can't go over sometimes I only spot treat it, depends on where my skin is at. This just takes all of that out of the equation and makes things really easy while still delivering really good benefits."

"This brand you can often buy at Whole Foods. Sodium ascorbyl phosphate is a stable form of vitamin C and newer research suggests that it may actually be helpful for people who have acne because it acts as an antioxidant so it helps to theoretically cut down on the oxidation of sebum. But in contrast to ascorbic acid, it's not known whether or not it actually gets into the skin and elicits collagen synthesis and leads to a wrinkle smoothing effect. It's a kind of like a precursor to ascorbic acid, which if you remember from my vitamin C serum videos, ascorbic acid is not the most stable ingredient, so there are these stabilized derivatives but then there's always the question of like does it actually do anything. Anyway, it does appear to help cut down on acne and may be helpful via the sebum oxidation thing."

"This one is 33.99 so it's kind of pricey for a vitamin C derivative that isn't my top pick."
