What the gurus are saying

This foundation earns consistent praise for its staying power and flawless finish that holds all day without shifting or fading, making it a trusted choice for a polished base. The coverage is buildable, so those with oily or combination skin who want something lightweight can use less, though the shade range may not suit everyone equally well. Color matching is worth checking carefully before committing, as some shades can lean orangey or yellow depending on skin tone.

"I have found that to be the case with a lot of Nars foundations. There are other brands that have also had this problem. I do feel like MAC tends to like lean that way. Even their olive tones tend to be like a little bit too yellow and orange."

So NARS has a new foundation…
"I have found that to be the case with a lot of Nars foundations. There are other brands that have also had this problem. I do feel like MAC tends to like lean that way. Even their olive tones tend to be like a little bit too yellow and orange."
THIS replaced THAT
"MAC Studio Fix is just like a heavier foundation. I haven't used this in a while. I'm going to use this. And I picked it up and then I immediately was like, wait, I like have a couple tiny little breakouts, like around my temples. Do I really want to wear a heavy foundation? And like, yes, my face will look flawless while I'm like at the dinner or the event or whatever the hell it was, but it's just going to suffocate those blemishes and they always ended up like becoming bigger. Always."
Zara Larsson Makeup Tutorial
"I've sort of stopped using any other foundations other than MAC Studio Fix because they just feel really heavy on my skin. And to me, they provide a beautiful amount of coverage that is buildable and it evens out my skin tone enough and creates a beautiful and flawless looking finish that works really nicely as a base so that I can go in and spot conceal."
Glowy Makeup that STAYS PUT ALL DAY
"I love this foundation, it just wears so well. There's honestly a bunch of different foundations that I love and that I use and I just kind of cycle through, but this one is just such a go-to. It just lasts all day long and it creates a really flawless base."
My Go To Makeup when I want to look FLAWLESS
"For my foundation I'm going in with MAC Studio Fix. The point of this makeup is for the finish to look flawless like melted into your skin but I want that staying power, which is why I chose this foundation because this foundation wears so beautifully. It doesn't move, it doesn't change. You can wear it all day long and it just looks so incredibly stunning."
The beaded brow tutorial that no one asked for
"I'm using my MAC Studio Fix foundation for specifically covering up the brows and I believe I used it on the rest of my face as well just to keep the color cohesive. MAC Studio Fix, as beautiful as it is and I love that foundation, it's not the perfect color match for me. It is a little bit of an orangey yellow tone."

"There's a lot more kick up than usual with the Studio Fix Powder, but nothing too crazy. I have to be honest with you, I'm not... it's not majorly different. Like, I'm not stunned into how could they do this to me. The only thing I am finding is I'm gonna have to build up a few more layers of a new one versus the old one. I would never recommend applying your powder foundation with a sponge anyway. It's always nicer with a brush. It's fine, but I think the shade is off. I should have gone for NC15. I'm not overly disheartened, to be honest with you. I am looking at my face now and I'm thinking, okay, that does look like powder, which it is. Maybe if it was closer to my shade, it would be a little bit more less noticeable."

Terrible Makeup Tattoos And Other Makeup Hacks | These People Belong In Prison PRO MUA Reacts
"Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation is still an OG iconic foundation. [...] It gives you levels of coverage. You can brush it on and get it sheer and veil-like, but then you can take the sponge and really build it up. In the late nineties, early two thousands, Studio Fix was really popular. Still is, but it was super popular then because everyone wanted to look matte. [...] When that natural matte finish trend started to change and people started to want things that looked a little bit softer and more skin-like, people still wanted to use their Studio Fix. So if you prep your skin a certain way, you can still use Studio Fix, and it can warm up nicely, but it may take several minutes of wear for it to start to absorb some of your skin's excess oils and settle down."
Why Some Makeup Brands Are Winning — and Others Are Dying
"They did just recently change their MAC to Studio Fix Powder formula, which doesn't seem to be going down so well."

"When I used to work at Mac, a trick I used to do with Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation is if someone wasn't really looking to buy their foundation but they wanted to wear the powder foundation, I would go one shade lighter than their skin tone and then I would drench it in fix plus."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.
