What the gurus are saying

MAC Fix+ melts makeup into skin for a natural, less powdery finish rather than locking it in place for extended wear, which means it's not a traditional setting spray despite the name. Gurus praise it for awakening tired makeup, rehydrating damp sponges, and adding a healthy glow, though one expert noted the premium price point may not match the actual longevity benefit. Those with oily skin or needing all-day hold may want to pair it with a true setting spray after application.

"So, it it's a great staple because it makes foundation, it's so difficult to describe. It makes look complete, right? So, say you've done loads of powder and it looks too cakey. Fix Plus fixes. And not fix as in set down. Fix means as to repair, as to like to solve your problems. It is more of a finishing touch and it just makes foundation look like skin."

"Spraying Fix+ on your foundation, it's gonna make it look really, really nice, but it's not gonna make you the longevity of how long it lasts on your skin any longer."

"I would drench it in Fix+ because it makes the formula, when you wet that formula, it makes it last a little bit longer for some reason. It makes it more like this creamier texture but still with that beautiful matte finish of a powder. And because it does deepen a tiny bit, like it does deepen the powder in a way, especially if you're oily and powders tend to oxidize on you, just go a shade lighter. If you want a matte finish anything on your face to have a certain look, use it after anything that changes the formula or changes the texture off that product. That's really great advice, obviously that's not going to be the same for brighter cream products, it is just powders because powders absorb moisture differently."

"MAC Fix+, sorry, are perfect for this. It's not a setting spray. It never was and it never will be. I don't care how MAC market it now. They add moisture, but they don't lock makeup in place for long periods. What they do is melting the product together. It's making everything more cohesive. It's making it more skin-like, so by using a hydrating mist, you can see it gives my skin a healthy glow. But it's important to know also that it's not going to do things like stop oil from breaking through or extend the wear time of your makeup."

"MAC Fix+ is not a setting spray. It doesn't set the foundation. It might help to refresh and make it look a little bit nice. Maybe you've overpowdered and it kind of brings all your foundation together. There's no long lasting properties to it. And the reason I say that is, obviously, I used to work for them years ago and before the Internet was crazy over setting sprays. MAC Fix+ never had the wording setting spray on it. And we were also told it's not a fixing or setting spray. Fix meant as to repair, not to fix to the skin. But it's a great spray if you've used a lot of powders and things like that. I used to use it all the time if I used a powder foundation, I would spray it. I would actually drench my face in it and then fan it dry so it made the powder look nicer."

"Just for setting makeup, the MAC Fix+ is nice. So this is one of them. My favorite one had a little bit of a sheen to it but I think they discontinued that one. So now I'm back to this. Or sometimes I'll dampen like a makeup brush with it a little bit. So like if I'm doing my powder eyeliner I'll dampen my brush and it helps it stay longer. This one's nice and it doesn't have any scent to it."

"I sprayed some MAC Fix+ and it definitely helped to waken up my skin. MAC Fix+ is an oldie but a goodie. It's going to add hydration to the skin. It's not a setting spray in that it's going to set your makeup, but it will help to kind of melt things into place. So if you goof and you put a little too much powder, or if you feel like your skin's looking a little dry, your makeup's looking a little dry, you can add some Fix+ to it and it should help to waken it up. Back in the day I used to also use this right after I would blot down my makeup. I would do this to kind of give it like a really nice fresh look."

"I used the MAC Fix+ spray because I felt like the foundation needed to like kind of melt in my skin have a little bit of radiance because it was looking a little bit off than what I'm used to my foundation looking like and the Fix+ did help that a little bit."

"I'm going to do a tried and true favorite MAC Fix+. What this is going to do, this is not going to set your makeup at all. What this is going to do is it's going to help the makeup melt into your skin so it looks less powdery, it looks more natural. And you can also use this on bare skin like if you want one little hydration pick me up throughout the day."

"I've been using this on and off for several years and it's a staple in my makeup collection. It really does help to keep your makeup in place for the entire day or for the entire night. It's not something that I use every day, but if I am going somewhere special or I need my makeup to stay in place, especially now that we're coming into the summer months and we're going to be experiencing that humidity again, it's nice to use something like this just to keep your makeup in place. This one is alcohol-free and it's just a staple and it's been around for a really long time, so if you're looking for a good makeup setting spray I would say try this one."

"If you find that at the end of the day your face feels so dry like you just want to splash water on your face I would go for something more hydrating even down to like a MAC Fix Plus something that might not have as much longevity to it but that's going to have a little more of like a glycerin feel to it so it's going to really hydrate your skin and also tone down any powdery finish whatsoever this to me is a really nice happy medium you get crazy longevity but you also kind of get that little burst of hydration and then it locks in and leaves your skin looking more dewy but not too dewy this I found works best for my skin type."

Trying NEW Makeup!! 😍 WOW...
"I want to use my MAC Fix+ Setting Spray, it's been a while since I've used this and it's one of my faves so I'm just going to spritz that all over. It's really contributing to a really nice healthy looking complexion. I feel I'm absolutely loving that."
Doing My Friend's Makeup and I'm Terrified 😨
"I like to take a little bit of Fix+. This might feel a little bit drenchy, bear with me. So this is MAC Fix+ first all over and I've got my little fan here which we let this dry about halfway and then I'll take my sponge, which seems completely against like intuition but I swear this is what really makes the magic happen, is pressing the spray into the face. I like doing like a more hydrating one first and then locking it in with a different spray after."

Makeup YOU Said You'll NEVER Buy Again..
"For setting spray somebody said Mac Fix+. It's not an actual setting spray and the mister is more like a shot in the face. It is more like a water-based like melter, makeup melter versus like long wear type situation. And if you don't spray it far enough I can totally see what you mean, like it's pretty intense actually. It just kind of like spits at you."
