"This reformulated version has been helping as a thin layer on top of her moisturizer right before bed, tucking in extra moisture with soothing, calming centella, plus a slightly extra protective layer for when she needs to fight dehydration and calm irritated skin. She leaned on it especially when she had to cut back her retinaldehyde use as the UV index climbed in June and her skin barrier started feeling overwhelmed. Unlike the original Cica Sleeping Pack from 2019 that she swore off for containing essential oils that irritated her sensitive skin, this new version has no essential oils, artificial fragrance, fragrant compounds, or drying alcohol, ingredients she says Laneige is notorious for, so she can actually put it on her face. The original 2019 formula included tea tree oil and palmarosa oil which were causing skin irritation, but the new formula has no essential oils, no artificial fragrance, and no drying forms of alcohol or fragrant compounds. "The Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask is a beautiful moisturizer that can be applied over any other type of skincare. I don't keep this in my medicine cabinet; I keep it next to my bed. I oftentimes do my skincare at like 6 p.m. once I know I'm not leaving my home for the evening, and then before bed I still feel like my skin wants another layer of moisture, and that's when I apply this. It is super nourishing without feeling really greasy or heavy, and then I just wake up in the morning with some glowing, radiant skin. It also smells really good—my husband thinks it smells like a poppy seed muffin—and it's one of the only moisturizers I can get him to actually put on his face."
