What the gurus are saying

Gurus recognize Genifique as a competent hydrating serum, but consensus is that it no longer justifies its price. The recurring critique is that Korean and Japanese alternatives deliver comparable or better hydration at lower cost. A major turnoff for some reviewers is the added fragrance in a leave-on product. One reviewer praised the bifida ferment lysate ingredient, but the broader view is that the market has moved past this product's premium positioning.

"It does have fragrance which I don't like. I try and avoid fragrance in leave-on products. This was gifted to me and it's actually not bad, but having used 95 percent of those, I could say with 100 certainty that there is no reason in my mind to buy this. There's just so many good hydrating Korean toners, Japanese toners that deliver better results than what I am seeing with this. This is hydrating for sure, but once you've dipped your toes in the Korean and Japanese skincare game, this kind of thing is just not as competitive now. Once upon a time this was probably like a golden child, but honestly, even in the past six years the number of quality hydrating toners on the market has skyrocketed to the point where we don't need to be paying this kind of dollar anymore for a hydrating antioxidant-rich serum."

"I've been trying to use this Lancôme Genifique. This is a good product actually in my opinion aside from the fragrance, but I find that I get similar if not the same results using less expensive alternatives out there."

"I'm going to go in with one more hydrating serum, the Lancôme Genifique. This has the same bifida ferment lysate as the industry one."
