"The La Roche-Posay UVmune 400 is my outdoor sunscreen. It's sweat resistant, which is why I wear it to the beach, on hikes and generally in summer, and it has a great range of protection that helps keep hyperpigmentation at bay. It also works well under makeup. The price of it being sweat resistant is that you do feel you've put something on your skin."

"The one I use for outdoors is the La Roche Posay UVMUNE 400, but again, pick one you can afford and enjoy, the most important thing is you wear it daily."

"I don't wait any time after applying it because I've applied such a thin film, which is really all you need, it's basically dry so I can come right in with the next step. I'm really loving this, the La Roche-Posay, it's even very moisturizing."

"The La Roche-Posay UVMune 400, I find that formula moisturizing enough that I don't need a separate moisturizer with it."
NEW SUNSCREENS: LA ROCHE POSAY UVMUNE 400| Dermatologist @DrDrayzday
"This is their new UV filter and it's innovation in terms of sunscreen, it covers the long wavelength UVA1 rays that most sunscreen filters around the world don't reach, up to 400 nanometers. It's got Uvinul T150, Uvinul A Plus, Tinosorb, Mexoryl SX and Mexoryl XL, and it's got avobenzone, which these other filters help stabilize so it works much better. It looks great on the skin, there's no cast, it absorbs really quickly, it's not greasy, I love this, like I love it so much. I know they also make it in a fluid consistency but I really like the cream, I would encourage you to get the cream. It's free of fragrance and it's moisturizing without being greasy. It does have denatured alcohol in it but it's not drying at all, and it's water resistant. This new filter really offers the potential to help people with sun sensitive skin diseases and people who are very sensitive to the sun from medications. This is probably arguably one of the most powerful anti-aging products on the market right now because of the innovation for protecting against those longer wavelengths of UVA that contribute to accelerated skin aging. There's no pilling or anything like that, I was able to tolerate it very comfortably around the eyes, it doesn't run into the eyes or burn or sting. Definitely check that one out."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
