What the gurus are saying

This sunscreen's standout strength is its ability to block long-wavelength UVA, a deeper-penetrating form that standard US filters often miss and that can drive hyperpigmentation and collagen breakdown. Gurus praise its hard-working, fast-absorbing formula and eight-filter system for intense sun days, though the high denatured alcohol content means those with dry skin may want to reserve it for occasional high-sun outings rather than daily wear. One reviewer noted minor graininess in some batches, though it disappears on application.

"This one's hardworking. It is for my sensitive skin. It's not a daily driver because my skin would start to get very dry if I use this every day in a row for many days. If I'm going to be out a lot, it's very humid, very sunny out, this is what I'm going for. It's got eight filters total, and additional beneficial ingredients including vitamin E. Hardworking, great sunscreen."

"On the hottest sunniest days I'm going with La Roche-Posay UV Mune 400. That's it, this one's great though for most other days, but on the hottest day the La Roche-Posay is the one I trust the most."

"I used La Roche-Posay UV Mune 400 from time to time but I think the denatured alcohol in this kind of dried my skin out a little bit. So many people don't have any issues with alcohol but I think that's why my skin's gonna be flaking a bit."

"I love this one from La Roche-Posay. They're UV Mune 400. It's amazing. It does contain a lot of denatured alcohol. It can be drying if you have dry skin and you wear it multiple days in a row. If your skin tolerates it, this is always going to be, in my opinion, one of the hardest working ones. Nothing wrong with using it during the winter if your skin tolerates it. But for me, I typically find this to be on the drying side. So I typically use it on the days I'm going to be out the most, the highest sun rays, sweaty days, things like that."
New numbuzin - No.9 NAD+ PDRN Glow Boosting Toner First Impressions Review
"This is their UV Mune which uses the European filters in it. My first bottle didn't have this but this bottle has a little bit of graininess but no matter how hard I shake I feel a little bit of the grains. It's not a ton but it's a little bit. It's enough that I do notice the little grains in there but once I smooth it in the skin that feeling kind of goes away. I just notice like two or three tiny grains and then it kind of just soaks in, so it's not a huge deal. Sometimes in tinted sunscreens you'll notice that more from iron oxides or titanium dioxides in there."

"The La Roche-Posay UV Mune. This one's a great high strength one. So, if it's very sunny out or if I'm going to be out a long time, this is a great one."

"La Roche-Posay UV Mune has this ingredient, Amiloxate, which is a name we learned about it in medical school, no one knows it by that name, but this ingredient has great UVA protection. The European sunscreens are incredible, incredibly aesthetic. European ones have great elegance."

"I ran out of the La Roche-Posay UV Mune 400 product, which is a product that's only available in Europe. I hate that, that makes me so mad. I've asked some of these brands at all store in Europe, I'm like please send me your European sunscreens, like I want to try them, I want the filters."

"This UV Immune 400 filter is special because it blocks long wave UVA. UVA can be blocked by zinc oxide but titanium dioxide is not a very good UVA blocker, especially the longer wavelengths. Zinc oxide will block UVA 1 and 2 well. What we have here is a UV Immune filter that we can only get in Europe. It will block longer wave UV, which will be very good because we want to block those longer wavelengths that go deeper into our skin and can really cause photo aging and even contribute to hyperpigmentation. The European filters, just like in Asia, are superior. We have a limited supply of UV filters in the US, so it's unfortunate that we're lagging with the chemical UV filters. This one is a nice one to consider if you're not going to jump in the pool, but if you want to jump into the water, go with something water resistant. It absorbs very fast."
Dermatologist Explains: Why You Should NEVER Go Into a Tanning Bed!
"Something I wish we had in the US would be the La Roche-Posay UV Mune 400. This is one of their newer sunscreens. L'Oréal has their own filter that will block long wavelength UVA, which UVA is quite stubborn, right. Thankfully zinc oxide covers UVA better than titanium dioxide by itself, but the long wavelength may not be covered fully a lot of times in your sunscreen. That's a sneaky one, right, that long UVA, because it can really cause hyperpigmentation, especially in skin of color, and really go down into your collagen and disrupt the collagen leading to wrinkly, saggy, crepey skin, which we don't want. Finding a sunscreen that will block long UVA, I really hope the US starts getting better UV filters and a bigger range and selection of UV filters to use."
