What the gurus are saying

La Roche-Posay splits the experts. One reviewer praises the brand's gentle formulas for sensitive skin, saying switching to mild French brands like this one stopped her reactions entirely. However, another expert cautions that the brand has marketed some products with overstated claims about results. Those with reactive skin may find the formulations calming, though it's worth checking ingredient lists rather than relying on marketing language alone.

"La Roche-Posay is definitely guilty of using niacinamide as a way of just hyping up the product and what it could achieve. They put a dose of niacinamide in something and can claim it's an anti-acne formulation, but niacinamide is super cheap to formulate with. It's okay as an antioxidant and for balancing oil levels and reducing acne, but it's not amazing at any of these things."

"When I saw the dermatologist after I saw the first doctor back in February she got me to change everything and just use the really really mild French brands, Avène and La Roche-Posay and things like that, which I then wasn't reacting to. Now I have to sort of, it's fine, but when I use the cleanser I have to like cleanse my face like four times in order to take everything off. It's fragrance free just in case, which is perfect."
