What the gurus are saying

Gurus consistently praise this as a top-tier moisturizer for eczema, atopic dermatitis, and severe dryness, especially in winter. Dermatologists highlight clinical evidence showing it supports skin microbiome recovery and can enhance prescription eczema treatments. The thick, rich formula and pump packaging are frequently cited strengths; minor greasiness is mentioned but not seen as a drawback. Community consensus is strong across all reviewers, with widespread recommendation for both face and body use, including on babies and children.

"La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+M is a good option that comes in a huge size. It can be a little thick for people's faces, but if you have really dry skin, I think you will actually quite like this one a lot. It's one that you'll really enjoy if you have more mature dry skin."

"La Roche-Posay lip balm, what I like about that is minimalistic, extremely hydrating. It's a bit of a thicker base. I feel like the wax esters are particularly prominent. That's a top tier one."

Dermatologist Reviews: Essentials in your Winter Skincare Routine!
"If you're dealing with eczema or atopic dermatitis, there is this nice moisturizer by La Roche-Posay. They have great thermal spring water. The water is rich in these great minerals, especially selenium, selenium being soothing and anti-inflammatory. The Lipikar AP+M really helps with restoring the microbiome of your skin, so all the billions of bacteria that's on your skin, it will help rebalance it. The AP+M Lipikar moisturizing cream has evidence behind it. It has shown to help with quality of life measures, itch scales can be improved if you're using this in conjunction with systemic medications that someone like myself, a dermatologist, would prescribe, say a JAK inhibitor or dupilumab, which is a biologic to help with eczema on face or body. Studies have shown that this can help improve scores by adding that in to a regimen, so having a moisturizer with these systemic medications."

"La Roche-Posay Lipikar moisturizer is great, you can use it on the face. The thing about it that gets on my nerves is that packaging because once you get down to where you've got at least a third left of the product it starts to spill out. The pump has tunneled and there's like all the remaining product is holding on for dear life to the bottle."

"It stays in place like it doesn't roll up and get into my eyes. It helps soothe a disrupted skin barrier. This also has panthenol in it which is hydrating, that's the B5. This is one of La Roche-Posay's best products and it's really good if you have windburn. It's great if you get any kind of irritation on the face. When you're putting it on it's almost like you're putting on sunscreen, like a zinc sunscreen, but it does rub in and doesn't leave any kind of white cast, maybe a little bit of white film, but it definitely creates a nice protective layer. The thing about this though, you will likely have a hard time if you put this on the face in the morning as a skin protectant and then you try and put sunscreen on over it because it's balmy, so you may get quite a bit of peeling sunscreen may not set up over this. But it's great to use at night."

"La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ is really good. You can use this on the face and the body. It has niacinamide in it which is good for redness and hyperpigmentation. It's more lightweight in comparison to other balms but it's very rich. I always suggest this as a product to use for people who are dealing with a lot of discoloration in the skin folds like under the arms or maybe under the breast because it will help cut down on irritation penetrating the skin that can worsen that hyperpigmentation. The niacinamide can help slow down the spread of pigment packets from the pigment-producing cells, melanocytes, to neighboring keratinocytes, so it helps to lighten some types of discoloration. But it's also helpful for the moisture barrier. It's not irritating, so this formula is really good. It's a really good face and body moisturizer."

"The coplas balm from La Roche-Posay is a dimethicone skin protectant which I love. The dimethicone is a skin protectant so it helps limit penetration of irritating things, it reduces transepidermal water loss, and it definitely has a smoothing effect. It also has a pore blurring effect. If you have eyelid irritation, this is a great thing to use around the eyes to protect eyelids from irritants that drive issues and flares of eyelid dermatitis. It's great and it's under seven bucks."

"La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+M retails for twenty bucks. This moisturizer I first mentioned it probably a couple years back when I first recommended moisturizers for eczema and dry skin and to this day it's still one of the products that we use regularly in my household especially during the winter time. I love number one the formula, the cream formula that's really suitable to use in the winter especially if you yourself or your kids and your family members struggle with dry and eczema prone skin. Two, I love the fact that it comes in a pump, it's really easy to dispense, making bath time routines especially if you have little ones much more doable. It's actually approved for babies two weeks and older and also has the National Eczema Association seal of approval. It's fragrance-free, really ideal on eczema prone and sensitive skin. And lastly it's just versatile in the sense you can use it on face and body so really helps to simplify your skincare routine. For households, for parents that really want to simplify their routine and just really make bedtime routine manageable and easy while making sure that your kids' skin stays hydrated and supported, if you struggle with eczema during the winter time this is the moisturizer I recommend."

"I am a huge fan of the Lipikar line in general. The Lipikar AP+M is our go-to moisturizer for the entire family during the winter. I love it for a few reasons: it's a big bottle that's in a pump style so really easy to dispense. It has wonderful ingredients including La Roche-Posay's thermal spring water that we know is soothing and calming, glycerin, shea butter, and niacinamide. What is unique about this one is that in addition to those it also contains 1% colloidal oatmeal. We know that colloidal oatmeal is soothing and calming and it actually has been shown clinically to help reduce the intensity of eczema flares. This moisturizer is very nourishing and can really help to reduce the itching and the inflammation from eczema."

"This is a triple action balm with anti-itching, repairing, and immediate soothing properties. It really helps to relieve itch, dryness, irritation. It really calms your skin if it's a little angry. I love using this on my legs and my arms and my chest because of how moisturizing it is. It does give a little bit of a greasiness to the skin, but it's not super greasy where you couldn't wear this during the day. You will have a little bit of a shine to your skin which I think looks really nice if you have like a sleeveless top on or you're wearing shorts. If your skin is itchy and it's dry, this is amazing. I had a mosquito bite and I tried this because it's anti-itch, and it actually worked. I really love how moisturizing it is and it really gives your skin this nice soft feel. If you have any scaliness on your legs or your arms, this gets rid of that. If you're looking for a really good rich repairing soothing body lotion or body cream or body balm, then you need to look into this."

"I really like this one, the La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+M. It's quite fatty which is nice, so nice, really great for children as well. So a lot of kids have eczema, they would highly highly recommend this product. It is a bit expensive, but if they have extra and you don't mind spending the money, it's really nice on the skin and it's not sticky."

"Being someone with eczema, I have to moisturize twice a day otherwise my skin will go wild. I love La Roche-Posay Lipikar really, my like one of my favorite moisturizers, and I'll use it top to toe. I'll do that in the morning after I have a shower and I'll do it in the evening as well. I'll usually have a very short quick shower and then I'll apply it on slightly damp skin. You want to get them on and always go downwards, don't do lots of rubbing up and down because you might trap the hairs on your body and get little bumps everywhere throughout the day."
