What the gurus are saying

Light foam and a hydrating formula that doesn't leave skin feeling stripped make this a standout for those who want the clean feel of a foaming cleanser without the dryness. Gurus praise its balance of effective cleansing and nourishment from shea butter, glycerin, and niacinamide, and note it works across the whole family, even for babies and those with heightened skin sensitivity. The gentle surfactant blend removes sunscreen and makeup in one layer while supporting the skin barrier.

"If you are looking for a gentle cleanser that is helping to cleanse your skin effectively at the same time minimizing dryness and irritation, I love the one from La Roche-Posay, the Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil. In fact, I think my family and I have gone through like two bottles of it. I love it for myself and for my kids. It's just a lovely oil cleanser but that foams readily so you feel like you're getting a good cleanse but at the same time it is very gentle and does not strip your skin barrier. It's even been tested and suitable for individuals that have cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy because we know in those patients they tend to have more skin sensitivity and dryness. Ingredient-wise, it contains La Roche-Posay's famous thermal spring water that we know helps to balance the skin microbiome, shea butter that's very rich and nourishing, niacinamide and glycerin that are all wonderful ingredients to help support your skin barrier. I use it on myself as well as my kids in the shower and when they bathe and it's super gentle, even suitable for babies 2 weeks and older. So just all around a really nice cleanser that you can use for yourself as well as the whole family."

"The Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil is really nice because it's got wonderful hydrating ingredients but foams ever so slightly, so for those individuals who just absolutely need a foaming cleanser in their routine this would be one to consider when switching to for the winter. It can be used on face and body, and that's what I do in the shower. I use it on my kids as well, so it's really truly multi-functional. The light foam really gives you that clean feel but also has really nice nourishing ingredients to help hydrate the skin and not over strip the skin barrier. It contains La Roche-Posay thermal spring water along with shea butter, which helps to smooth down skin and add nourishment to the skin, and glycerin. All wonderful ingredients that really help to support the skin barrier, gets the job done without being overly aggressive."

Dermatologist eczema and dry skincare tips for winter | Dr. Jenny Liu
"The Lipikar line from La Roche-Posay comes in a moisturizer, eczema cream, as well as a cleanser, and this is the Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil that is really great and gentle, suitable for babies two weeks and older. It contains La Roche-Posay thermal spring water, shea butter, and glycerin, just a really nice cleanser with gentle surfactants that also kind of suds and foam, so it cleanses without stripping your skin barrier. What I love about it is it comes in a pump bottle, so really easy to dispense and user friendly, and even though it may have the designation of a facial cleanser, it's really suitable for all over, so you can use it on your body and on your face."

"I'm pretty darn obsessed with this cleansing oil right now. It really is the only cleanser I've used for probably the last month and I just don't want to move on from it. It's the perfect balance between a hydrating cleanser and it still has a decent amount of lather to it, so I don't feel like it leaves me greasy or oily at all. It's functionally very effective. It's interesting because it doesn't have a strong robust skin oil as the core component, but it is just an oil-based cleanser with surfactants, and anecdotally it's outstanding for drier skin. I feel like this one doesn't feel like your prototypical cleansing oil, and maybe that's why it's going to have a chance, because I'm not the biggest fan of a real creamy cleansing oil where you feel it too much."

"Use a cleansing oil in the shower for optimal hydration. This one from La Roche-Posay, from the Lipikar line, I use in the shower. It just gives another layer of hydration to the skin, and then when you get out within 30 seconds you are putting moisturizer on your skin and you are going to have optimal hydration even through the winter months."

"The L Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil is probably one of the tougher ones because these are all great, they're all ones I've repurchased, and the winner is the L Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil which is a new product this year. It's an amazing product, use it every day."

La Roche-Posay 🆕 New! Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil Review
"I was covered in sunscreen and I used this guy and it did a great job and removed it within like one light layer. You can apply it to face or body. They recommend applying a pump of it to damp skin and it foams up really nicely and cleanses really cleanly. It rinses off nicely and doesn't leave your skin feeling dry in the least, which is really nice because lately I've been having to put body lotion on the second I get out of the shower, but this stuff just was amazing. The ingredients in here use some gentle cleansers. They use sodium laureth sulfate, which is different than sodium lauryl sulfate. Sodium laureth sulfate is the gentle version; sodium lauryl sulfate is the one that's kind of irritating for some people. And then it uses cocoa betaine, which is another gentle cleanser. There's also niacinamide, shea butter, and glycerin in there as well."

Only 5 Products? Skincare I'm Taking to a Deserted Island
"The cleanser that I would bring, the all-purpose cleanser that's gonna do it for me in any environment, in any season, no matter what my skin is feeling like in any given moment, La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil. I like this for a lot of reasons. I think it is just a really good marriage between a moisturizing milk type of cleanser and a foaming cleanser. My skin can be prone to dryness, especially if I'm going through a bout of sensitivity or irritation, my skin can feel a lot more dehydrated and dry, and so I like that moisture element to this. But I also struggle with just straight up pure milk cleansers because I feel like they're a little filmy on my skin sometimes, and so I love that this foams, which means it's going to be better at cleaning my skin of any impurities. If I'm sweating a lot, sweat is a huge enemy to my pores, that's when we're talking about congestion and acne, that is a recipe for disaster with my skin. I really do need a foaming cleanser to break all that sweat off and all that thick layer of oil that I can produce in my T-zone. I need that to really effectively clean through those areas, but I gotta be gentle on the drier areas of my skin too, so this does it all. It's a nice all-purpose type of cleanser, in any situation it's going to suit my skin."
Moisturizing Cleansers For Cold Weather ❄️
"Next up is a hybrid cleanser, this is the La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil. Now, you know I'm obsessed with this, I've been talking about it for years, I've emptied quite a few bottles and I'm about to empty this one. This is actually something that I use year round, it's not just about chilly weather for me. The hybrid quality of this I think is what keeps it in my routine consistently. So the key ingredients here are glycerin, niacinamide, and shea butter, and really the idea here, this product's really formulated with eczema prone skin in mind. The glycerin really replenishes the skin, it hydrates, the niacinamide helps to restore the skin barrier, and the shea butter offers that soothing, moisturizing element. But I call it a hybrid cleanser because the texture is a little closer between a gel and a milk cleanser combined into one."
Stress-Free AM and PM Summer Skincare Routine
"This is the La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ wash. I love this, obviously, I'm loving it down to the last drop, but don't worry, I have a backup bottle. What I like about this is the texture is kind of like a milk and a gel all in one, so it's not super duper milky moisturizing creamy, but it's not so harsh and foamy either. It's like the perfect blend of both. In the summertime I do produce a good amount of oil throughout the day, and then of course I had makeup on, I want an effective clean, I don't want to strip moisture, I don't want to hurt my skin barrier, but I want my skin to feel so clean and so refreshed when I rinse this off, and this cleanser does that."
