It's the most advanced option in this lineup, and I'd save it for skin that's already tolerated a basic salicylic acid product with no issues whatsoever. "The key ingredient here is the 2% salicylic acid which clears pores, helps prevent breakouts, but also minimizes oil and when you're minimizing oil you can cause dryness. "I'm really bummed that La Roche Posay has added fragrance to the Effaclar Serum, because this used to not have fragrance and was really good. Fragrance doesn't negate the benefits of the ingredients in this, but the fragrance in these serums is so strong and it lingers so much, that's really unfortunate. It's got salicylic acid, but it also has LHA, which is a modified form of salicylic acid that's a little more precise in how it exfoliates. This has some good ingredients: for oily acne prone skin it has niacinamide and glycolic acid, and it has phytic acid, which is a very gentle alpha hydroxy acid. I really wish they had not scented this."
