Cicaplast Gel B5 Skin Protectant 21%.

"The Cicaplast gel is a skin protectant, and so to use it all over the face is an option as a moisturizer, but can be kind of cost prohibitive because it's a pretty small tube for the price. It's a glycerin-based skin protectant. Glycerin is both a humectant, but at higher percentages, it's also occlusive. So that's great for barrier recovery and repair. In contrast to petroleum jelly, it doesn't feel greasy on the skin. It's a lot more lightweight and it provides immediate and long-lasting hydration. It's deeply hydrating. So that's an advantage of glycerin as a skin protectant. But like any skin protectant layered on over things, it really enhances perhaps penetration. So you might develop more irritation doing it that way. And it's not as though there are a lot of studies or really any studies looking at the impact of that in large groups of people. So just take that with a grain of salt. But provided you tolerate it, it is an effective way to moisturize the skin. I personally only ever use it around my eyes because eyelid skin stuff will get on there easily, dust, aerosol allergens, and get trapped."

"This is a holy holy grail. The glycerin skin protectant has transformed the look of my under eye area just through the action of hydration and protection from irritants. It has been amazing. Love putting a little tiny drop of this under my eyes, taking a little bit up to the upper eye area at night before I go to bed. "Glycerin is actually a skin protectant at high percentage strengths like the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Gel B5. I do still use it around my eyes. I've tried this under the eyes. It's not as good as the Cicaplast Gel is as far as the under eye brightening effect, but it does work there. I also tried using this underneath Vaseline to see if that really did a lot. It's not like my skin was drastically different on my body appearance-wise, but it was a great way to moisturize. The one thing though is I don't think this is as good for me personally for a variety of skin issues because there's no keratolytic here, whereas other products get in there and they really actively hydrate plus they dissolve that dry stuff. But this is a fun option and it's pretty affordable."

"This is a must-have for me. Probably one of my most repurchased products. I have to have it. I use it around my eyes. This is a glycerin-based skin protectant, meaning it works to both attract hydration into the skin as well as reduce water loss. The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Gel is not as sticky, but compared to petroleum jelly, it does not add that greasy texture to it. It's a lot more lightweight and breathable while still supporting the skin barrier and helping to optimize healing. One of my favorite ways to use this product is actually around my eyes. It's wonderful for dry, irritated eyelids or just to brighten up the under eye area because it helps to improve hydration and through light scattering, the under eyes just appear a little brighter. And through attracting hydration and keeping it in the skin, this product works to reduce the formation or lessen the appearance of those little fine dehydration wrinkles that pop up around the eyes. In addition to the glycerin, this also has panthenol, a moisturizing B vitamin, and madecassoside, which comes from Centella and has been shown to be helpful for healing and for reducing oxidative stress in the skin. It also has hyaluronic acid, another humectant."

"A good skin protectant around the eyelids can help protect that area and it can help reduce transepidermal water loss, allowing the barrier to get back on track to heal the eyelid eczema. "I discovered a new product from La Roche-Posay, their Cicaplast Gel. I've always loved the Cicaplast Balm, a skin protectant with dimethicone, but they came out with a gel version that instead of being a dimethicone skin protectant is a glycerin skin protectant and it has a high percentage of glycerin. It creates a nice protective hydrating film on the skin surface that for me personally I find really performs well around the eyes. I highly recommend this around your eyes for limiting penetration of things into eyelid skin that can be irritating. If you're dealing with dry irritated eyelids this is a great option. It doesn't feel heavy, it doesn't feel greasy, love it. Glycerin as a skin protectant is fantastic. Once you get water content optimized via that humectant action you also get downstream benefits in the realm of skin's mechanical properties. You get improved elasticity, smoothness, overall epidermal thickness improves via hydration."

"I've been using this La Roche-Posay B5 Cicaplast gel around my eyes for a couple weeks now and I have really seen a visible improvement in just the overall look of fine lines around my eyes as well as I feel like my under eyes are a little bit tighter and brighter and smoother more radiant. It's a glycerin based skin protectant which is really hydrating but I just put a little tiny bit there and rub it in. What I like about it is it's nice and lightweight but it also creates this lightweight film on the skin surface that really helps protect eyelids from any kind of irritant getting on there and further drying out your eyes. I've been so impressed with this. It's fragrance free. It's really good as a skin protectant like for dry irritated hands or chapped lips chapped skin. As an eye cream it's amazing. "They came out with a Cicaplast Gel, which is a glycerin skin protectant, glycerin 21% to be exact, and glycerin is super hydrating but also creates this kind of protective film on the skin surface to limit penetration of irritants and to reduce water loss from the skin. It also has compounds from centella which are anti-inflammatory. I'm now on my second tube of it, almost finished, about to buy my third. This gel around the eyes is amazing. Just a tiny little drop under the eyes, upper eyelid, don't get it within a millimeter of your lash line to avoid getting it directly into the eyes, but it really helps plump the skin there and limit penetration of irritant. It's easy for irritant to settle on the eyelid skin and it's thin so it's a lot more vulnerable to irritation. This has been excellent for not just reducing eyelid dryness but for really plumping and smoothing out lines, and honestly it does lead to a brighter, smoother under-eye appearance. I notice a difference when I don't use it. I finished the first two and there was maybe a month or so I wasn't using it and that benefit started to dwindle. My eyelids were a lot more vulnerable to dryness and irritation."

The gel is a glycerin skin protectant and I love to use it around my eye area because it's a protectant and eyelid skin is a lot more vulnerable to dryness and irritation for a few reasons. First of all, it's delicate skin. Second of all, the shape of your eye and the way your eyelid skin behaves when you blink. The muscles around the eye contract in this like accordion-like fashion which really kind of brings any dust literally or allergens or anything that have settled on the eyelid area, the eyelashes, you know, kind of fluff up there a bit onto the skin and really drive it in even more. Plus rubbing the eyes, you just kind of over time rub it in. So what the glycerin skin protectant does is literally protect the skin from irritating stuff getting in and it helps to retain water and eyelid skin. "This is meant for post-procedural care like healing, recovery. It is a glycerin skin protectant, but it works really well to use the tiniest amount around the eyes. It has 20% glycerin in it. For the eye area, I much prefer this. I get amazing results around my eyes with this product. Much less expensive and without the issue of it running into my eyes, causing the stinging sensation or feeling tacky. It's around $22.99 for a decent size tube of it. It contains 20% glycerin, which is super hydrating. Contrary to glycerin's reputation, however, this product is not really sticky or tacky. It's a lot less tacky than that eye serum. It works so well around the eyes in my opinion because the glycerin is super hydrating along with the [dimethicone] in the product, which helps ultimately to improve water content in the skin, giving you that plumping effect of optimized water content, better epidermal turnover, better barrier integrity, light scattering. You brighten up the under eye area and you also help to reduce irritation around the eyes. That in and of itself really ends up paying off dividends. It also has madiccastasside, a compound that comes from [Centella], which shows promise for having some healing properties and reducing inflammation in the skin. You don't need very much around the eyes. You want to avoid getting it within a millimeter of the lash line to prevent it from getting in your eyes. But in contrast to the serum, it doesn't run into the eyes because it is a thicker consistency."

"In the Cicaplast line they came out with a Cicaplast Gel B5 with 21% glycerin. I'm going to put a little around my eyes because I like to put some kind of skin protectant around my eyes. In theory this can help also hydrate up the skin a bit and improve the look of fine lines. I still stand though by the Cicaplast Baume for facial irritation."

"This is probably going to be a 2024 skin care favorite. I have since repurchased it. It is a nice lightweight dimethicone based skin protectant which is wonderful. You can use it really anywhere where you have a lot of irritation, especially from friction, but it's comfortable to wear on the face. It also has compounds from centella in it which are anti-inflammatory. In contrast to the balm, I find this one is a bit more actively hydrating. I really really really enjoy using this around my eyes, especially when introducing retinoids into your routine or using a salicylic acid face wash where you kind of have to be careful around the eyes. Retinoids, salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, if they get on your eyelid skin it can end up causing dryness and that can bring about the appearance of these little fine wrinkles. I've experienced that using salicylic acid cleansers, so I recommend using this."

"It's very similar to the cicaplast balm but this one actually is a gel. It's actually very nice and hydrating. It's really intended to be used on skin like post procedure but it is just so nice to use all over. You can't really go wrong with using this product. I've seen other dermatologists talk about using it like almost as a hydrating eye cream because it's very lightweight, fast absorbing, fragrance-free. It contains 21% glycerin so great hydration along with panthenol and other ingredients, so just a really nice hydrating gel that I feel like applies very smoothly and keeps your skin very soft and supple."
