"The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 is a skin protectant, so using it all over the face as a moisturizer is an option, but it can be kind of cost prohibitive because it's a pretty small tube for the price. It's a glycerin-based skin protectant, and glycerin is both a humectant, but at higher percentages it's also occlusive, so that's great for barrier recovery and repair. In contrast to petroleum jelly, it doesn't feel greasy on the skin -- it's a lot more lightweight, and it provides immediate and long-lasting hydration. It's deeply hydrating, so that's an advantage of glycerin as a skin protectant. But like any skin protectant layered on over things, it really enhances penetration, so you might develop more irritation doing it that way, and there aren't really any studies looking at the impact of that in large groups of people, so just take that with a grain of salt. Provided you tolerate it, it is an effective way to moisturize the skin. I personally only ever use it around my eyes, because eyelid skin -- stuff will get on there easily, dust, aeroallergens, and get trapped."

"The gel has 21% glycerin, which is super hydrating and creates this kind of protective film on the skin surface to limit penetration of irritants and to reduce water loss from the skin. It also has compounds from centella which are anti-inflammatory. I'm now on my second tube of it, almost finished, about to buy my third. This gel around the eyes is amazing. Just a tiny little drop under the eyes, upper eyelid, don't get it within a millimeter of your lash line to avoid getting it directly into the eyes, but it really helps plump the skin there and limit penetration of irritant. The eyelid skin is thin so it's a lot more vulnerable to irritation. This has been excellent for not just reducing eyelid dryness but for really plumping and smoothing out lines, and honestly it does lead to a brighter, smoother under eye appearance. I notice a difference when I don't use it. I finished the first two and there was maybe a month or so I wasn't using it and that benefit started to dwindle. My eyelids were a lot more vulnerable to dryness and irritation."

"This is meant for post-procedural care like healing, recovery. It is a glycerin skin protectant, but it works really well to use the tiniest amount around the eyes. It has 20% glycerin in it. For the eye area, I much prefer this. I get amazing results around my eyes with this product. Much less expensive and without the issue of it running into my eyes, causing the stinging sensation or feeling tacky. It's around $22.99 for a decent size tube of it. This product is not really sticky or tacky. It works so well around the eyes in my opinion because the glycerin is super hydrating along with the dimethylone in the product, which helps ultimately to improve water content in the skin, giving you that plumping effect of optimized water content, better epidermal turnover, better barrier integrity, light scattering. You brighten up the under eye area and you also help to reduce irritation around the eyes. It also has madiccastasside, a compound that comes from Santella, which shows promise for having some healing properties and reducing inflammation in the skin. You don't need very much around the eyes. You want to avoid getting it within a millimeter of the lash line to prevent it from getting in your eyes. But it doesn't run into the eyes because it is a thicker consistency."

If you have a kid with diaper rash or irritation from drooling, you can use it as a barrier to protect the skin around the mouth. I remember those days of having kids with irritant contact dermatitis from saliva collecting around the mouth, and you just get this bright red rash. Cicaplast to the rescue for those situations. Such an essential, versatile skincare product in my household."

When you have irritated skin, inflamed skin, you don't know what to put on your skin because everything burns, Cicaplast Baume will come through. Madecassoside has some papers supporting that it works on wound healing, so I like to put that on freshly made wounds, scars, it might help with stretch marks. When my kids have scrapes or post-inflammatory blemishes after the wound has healed, I put it on one to two times a day. If you have chafed skin in the folds, go ahead and use it. It has madecassoside, which we know has evidence behind it to aid in wound healing and scars, and it has panthenol and shea butter, so it's very hydrating and moisturizing for the skin barrier. It will help plump up your keratinocytes, your skin cells, and also help repair by having madecassic acid in it. I like to put this on scars, but also if you're having just really irritated skin. For me, around the cheekbones when I sleep, sometimes I'll have a little bit of moisture there from tears that might be draining while you sleep, and you can have some irritation there. Go ahead and apply some La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 there. This is nice for rosacea-prone skin. If you're having redness, it can soothe some redness. You can apply it over your retinoid, but just a thin film because you don't want to clog up your pores. It comes out as a thicker balm but it does rub in well. You can use it to help glow up by actually plumping up your skin. It's not full-on slugging, but it's almost like a nice basting of the skin where you're going to help seal in the moisture and glow up that way."

"The essential that I have all over my house, La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. Just great for diaper rashes, chafed skin, dry, irritated skin of the face. It comes out as a thick balm. Rubs in well if you're applying on your face, but if you have acne-prone skin, do not put too much of this on. Just a thin layer goes a long way to soothe the skin. It's very soothing because not only does it have shea butter and panthenol, it also has madecassoside, which has evidence to help soothe the skin and help with wound healing. For patients with acne that's healing, yes, you can put it on your acne scars, your post-acne blemishes, but don't smother your active acne with this balm. Just a small amount goes a long way. If my skin's irritated from my retinol in the wintertime around my eyes and the cheekbone area or around the mouth, I'm going to go ahead and apply La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. This one has made my list every year for many years."

"I love the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5, which has panthenol and niacinamide but it uses shea butter and it feels like an occlusive ointment like Vaseline but a little thinner, so it's almost a balance between an ointment, a thick Vaseline type of ointment, and a balm. That's just really nice. You can use that for your hands but you can also use that for your feet, and if you cover this up with a sock, you're going to get nice smooth soft heels."

"This is just the most versatile skin care product out there. It has a dimethicone base, but there's also shea butter and madecasside, which gives it those Cica Plus benefits. If I'm having dry, irritated skin from traveling, if I am overdoing my retinoids, like I've tried tazerotene recently, which is a very strong powerful prescription medication, and it started to irritate my skin on the cheekbones, I just put a small amount on the cheekbones and it's just soothing. I've never had this burn or sting my skin even if it was raw. So even if you have chafed raw skin in the folds, you could actually use this on those areas. This is a great start if it's just getting very irritated and raw from whatever is going on. I travel with this and it works well in my little TSA Ziploc bag. I'll put this in those areas to help hydrate, repair the skin barrier while I sleep in the hotel room, and when I get back, wake up, skin's much better. If you have a scar, this is a nice scar cream. If you have some little wounds or cuts on the back of your hands, your fingers, you can go ahead and apply this to those areas."

"I've been using this for many many years and I use this really part of the reason I love this so much is I can seem to use this in any type of weather. Whenever my skin needs barrier repair no matter the weather this seems to work for me. This is a skin protectant cream really, you can use it in many different ways. It is meant to soothe irritation, but it also has a good amount of dimethicone which is a great occlusive agent and there's some petrolatum in here that also helps to tuck it in your skincare. When I mix it with another product it takes the medium weight and makes it like a much thicker heftier type of cream, way more occlusive, and so this actually worked for me towards the end of winter when my skin was the driest it was ailing the most."

"I have been mixing in about a pea-sized amount of the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. This stuff is really great because there's some really soothing madecassol in here and that really helps when my skin feels kind of inflamed. The madecassol just felt good on my skin and I think that it really helped. This cream has some ingredients in here that help to promote healing of the skin and because the skin around my nose and my upper lip can get quite irritated from blowing my nose all the time, I think that the soothing qualities and the healing qualities of this cream just help to keep my skin in good shape as it's going through a rougher period and it's a bit more vulnerable. The 1% of dimethicone in this cream kind of amps up or beefs up the moisturizing cream. It makes it a little bit more protective. It does create a slightly more rich, slightly thicker, luxurious cream texture that really just hugs everything in and that little extra protection actually helps keep my skin hydrated and moisturized and helps protect it."

"The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm, when you mix it together with another moisturizer, makes it a little bit thicker, more occlusive, and a little bit fluffier and more luxurious too, and it feels amazing. In the Cicaplast we have Madecassol, which is obviously very soothing for inflammation and itchiness and irritated skin, it just seems to work really well for me. But we also have some dimethicone in the Cicaplast, a good amount, and that is a great occlusive ingredient that helps to seal all your skincare in. "La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm. Obsessed. Use it so many different ways in the winter time. It is such a staple for me. The hero ingredient in here is 1% dimethicone. Dimethicone is an amazing occlusive agent and that is what creates the barrier on our skin. 1% is a good amount. It's still a very elegant amount. It's not going to be suffocating, but it does create a really nice barrier on your skin and that can be helpful in a multitude of ways. This also includes some madecasside. That's the biologically active compound found in the centella plant. Centella is amazing for soothing irritation, itchiness, redness on the skin. It is great for sensitive skin that feels really irritated. It has a healing component to it. The biologically active compound madecasside is a soothing powerhouse, super highly concentrated and is really going to reliably deliver those results to you in your skincare routine."

I mix a pea-size amount of this Cicaplast into my moisturizing cream and this really makes it more luxurious, thicker, and more protective. It adds a little bit more occlusivity because there's dimethicone in here, a little bit more soothing, and it almost creates your own slugging or like sleeping pack, especially for winter. It can be great for soothing irritation on the skin, thickening up your moisturizer, making it more protective, and fighting against dehydration."

"I started mixing in a generous amount of the Cicaplast Balm into my current moisturizer because that moisturizer wasn't quite enough with all of that going on with my skin. What it does is it makes the cream more fluffy, more luxurious, and more moisturizing, and a lot thicker and richer. It creates a moisturizer that is going to give so much more moisture and comfort and soothing to the skin. One of the ingredients in here is Madecassol, that's one of the biologically active compounds of the centella plant, so it actually soothes redness and inflammation and sensitivity. It really calmed my skin down in that sense. But it also features a good amount of dimethicone, and this is an ingredient that brings occlusion. This ingredient creates a temporary seal, if you will, a healing ointment basically on the skin that barrier that helps all of my toner, essence, serum, oil."

"I love this formula because it tackles quite a few of the concerns that cause red skin in the first place. We've got the anti-inflammatory soothing effect with the Madecassol. Madecassol is the active compound found in the centella plant that is really really potent for soothing the skin, for calming down inflammation, for healing the skin. By not just using the plant extract but by isolating that active compound, you get that effect very reliably and very potently in the formula. They're also using one percent of dimethicone which is a skin protectant and an occlusive ingredient. I use this in so many different ways, which is why I constantly have it restocked. You can use this for burns, cuts, bug bites. It's an amazing skin protectant to promote healing. I tend to get a really robust immune response when I get bug bites, they swell up, get really red and really itchy, and this just really helps to soothe that and take the edge off. That dimethicone creates a really nice barrier for the skin to hold in hydration or to hug in all your skincare. If you're feeling a lot of itchiness and irritation, there is soothing macide in here, there's some different ingredients in here that really do help to promote healing of the skin and really do help to take down inflammation as well as some dimethicone which also acts as an occlusive temporary barrier to help slow down the loss of hydration in your skin. You can use this for midday application when you just can't take it but you can't wash your face yet. I have always said this in my consultations: if your skin barrier is damaged, apply a thick layer, wait 10 minutes, once it absorbs massage it in and sleep. If you have rosacea-prone skin or if your skin is sensitive, this product is going to heal you overnight. When I say overnight, I mean problem 20, 30% overnight, and over the week as you keep using it, your skin will repair, it will heal. I use this in the morning because it just absorbs a little bit nicer and layers a little bit nicely under sunscreen. I really love it. Compared to other products, I just think the texture is a little bit more fast absorbing even though it's heavy duty and multitasking. Even though it is heavy duty, it is not as thick, and so I personally like it in the morning because it layers better under sunscreen. It's been trending for a long time and for the right reasons. It literally is used from chapped lips to dry skin to chafing, avoiding areas of friction like underarms and back area, to using it to heal diaper rashes. Zinc oxide is better when it comes to fully restoring a barrier, but this one is great for hydration and locking it in. It is white. I use this all over my face and the same way that I base my lips. I apply it at night and then I go to sleep. I let it melt into my skin. I probably put it on half an hour to an hour before I go to bed, and then it just melts and does its thing, and the next day my skin is like glowy. It's also a nice one if you are feeling slightly inflamed. I do wish the zinc was slightly different to have more of an anti-inflammatory effect and more a restorative effect, but nonetheless it works pretty damn well and it really is a very nice overnight mask situation."
