What the gurus are saying

The serum's milky texture and hydrating power earn strong praise, especially for calming redness and irritation and sitting smoothly under makeup or alongside actives like retinol. However, experts genuinely split on whether it delivers: some find it their favorite hydrating serum, while others say it falls short of the brand's cream version and feel it's merely fine. The one consistent frustration is the packaging, which is messy and wasteful in practice, so you may want to be patient when dispensing to avoid losing product.

"You would think the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 face serum would be amazing, and it's not amazing but it's also not bad. It's nothing compared to the Cicaplast cream. It's nice but it's just fine, it could work, maybe, I enjoyed it. The one thing putting this in the middle is the packaging: you end up losing a lot of product and it gets really messy, so you lose more than you actually use."

"I have a real love-hate relationship with this one. I was late to the game but I'm in love with their products, absolutely love with the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast line in general. The packaging pisses me off every time I use it, it's messy, it's dirty, you waste a lot of product. But I love the results so much and how it soothes and calms and hydrates my skin, reduces that redness on my skin, any irritation soon. Vitamin B5, I think it's panthenol again, yeah, vitamin B5 in here, amazing, amazing. I'm able to look past the packaging purely because of how much my skin loves this. I kind of love the serum more than the moisturizers. The serum for me is kind of like an everyday use thing. I can use morning and evening, fits in perfectly."

"This is the brand new La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum and I love it. I know it's had mixed reviews actually but I really love it. It's a beautiful milky serum, very similar in texture to one of my other favorite ones. I would put this all over, like drench my skin in it, including my eyes, neck, chest, everything in preparation for a retinol or a retinaldehyde."

SPRING SKIN - FIVE FAVOURITES
"It's just an absolute gold standard. I've just come back from the American Academy of Dermatology, most dermatologists love it, I love it. But I don't really like the texture of it, it's quite a rich cream. I love a serum though, and when they create it as a serum version, it was love at first sight. I have flown with it, I've used it since I've got back. I'm using it right up and around my eyes. It sits beautifully under makeup. It's flawless. It might just be my favorite hydrating serum of all time."
