What the gurus are saying

Experts praise this sunscreen for being lightweight, fast-absorbing, and leaving no white cast, making it especially suitable for acne-prone or oily skin. The European chemical filters and added peptides earn trust from several gurus who note the brand has strong research backing. However, the formula contains denatured alcohol as a significant ingredient, which some find drying, and a few people report stinging around the eyes, though reformulations have addressed this for many. The one thing to keep in mind: apply it and let it fully dry before layering moisturizer on top, since applying moisturizer over wet sunscreen may dilute the protection.

10 K-Beauty Skincare Products that Truly Deliver Results
"It's got five different chemical filters in it. They're all more European filters, which is nice because it has no scent and it's very effective and efficient. This stuff's great for the average day. It's got beta glucan and then it's also got the argireline botox in a bottle peptide. Lovely, no scent, totally invisible, great, feels nice on your skin. Highly, highly recommend this sunscreen. It's amazing."

"If you're open to chemical sunscreens, La Roche-Posay, they have a lot of research. They've invented a lot of filters. I tend to trust them and Bioderma are a couple brands right off the bat that I pretty much trust almost implicitly. No brand is totally perfect when it comes to sunscreens because it's so complicated."
The Skincare Industry is Messy - Skincare Truths Influencers Aren’t Being Honest About
"Someone was posting the ingredient or directions on La Roche-Posay sunscreen and the directions say to apply this sunscreen under their moisturizer. This was a chemical sunscreen from La Roche-Posay, I believe this was in Australia. Chemical sunscreens, certain of those certain types of those filters may form a really nice kind of protective cover layer on your skin. And so perhaps using them under moisturizer is the best way. Although, if you apply it and not let it sink in or dry and you really quickly apply your moisturizer right over it, I have a feeling you're going to be mixing two things and not getting the best protection."

"I do find that oil-free lightweight formulations work better and are more suitable for those individuals who are prone to breakouts on the body, and some of my favorite ones are from La Roche-Posay like the Anthelios line, and actually their melted milk is one of my favorites. I find that these sunscreens are more lightweight, fast absorbing, and easier to spread."

"Doesn't burn or sting around the eyes although I do get comments from people that it does, but they have changed the formulation over the years and they removed oxybenzone which I think is the reason why it's stung for a lot of people. No white cast, very lightweight, great if you have acne prone skin. Highly recommend. The SPF 30 is also another option too. This is a good one from La Roche-Posay although it is a little on the shiny side and personally I just prefer other formulations."

"Bondi Sands and La Roche-Posay sunscreens would be a really good combo. There are so many good sunscreens out right now, whether it's mineral, American, European, Korean. I've probably got four or five pure non-tinted mineral sunscreens that blend well, and they're non-nano zinc. I'm quite happy with how sunscreen has evolved over the last years."

"This sunscreen is 5 fluid ounces, goes on really well. This is chemical based, I believe, really lightweight. I like this one a lot, really good. The UV Mune 400 goes after long UVA wavelength so it's covering a broad spectrum UVA/UVB but especially the wavelengths that we worry about causing worsening hyperpigmentation. This is a really nice one and I wish the US would be able to expand their UV filters but unfortunately we got to go to Europe and grab these."

"La Roche-Posay Anthelios is a terrible sunscreen. I know it's viral but it doesn't work with everyone. Please stop using it if you have a very deep back acne mark."

"It's recommended by a lot of dermatologists and it's 36 pounds for 300 ml so it's actually a really good price, but the sixth ingredient here is denatured alcohol and so it is drying to the skin. Plus the chemical sunscreen, which is fine, it's just not my favorite. I tend to recommend mineral over chemical because it doesn't enter the bloodstream like chemical does. Chemical sunscreens do go into your urine, into your breast milk, which is why we recommend if you're pregnant make sure you're wearing mineral sunscreens. And also my children, I make sure I'm putting mineral on them. But actually if you had to pick between chemical and mineral, I would probably go for mineral if wearing an SPF 50 is the most important thing. So if all you can get your hands on is chemical, then wear it because that's more important than anything else. You want to make sure you're minimizing chances of skin cancer, premature aging, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation."

"I like to finish it up with the La Roche-Posay sunscreen, and this is because whether or not you're going outside or even if you just get a little bit of sunlight, sit close to windows, whatever, you need sunscreen regardless. This one is La Roche-Posay Anthelios, very very popular as well but very very good. Most importantly, because this does not break me out and it's invisible. It's not something that some of these sunscreens do, where they leave a white cast, and if you're not careful, like if you apply sunscreen before you start doing your makeup, you can actually change the color of your complexion. This one does not do that."

"The fragrance was quite strong, which some people like, but I'm not the biggest fan. It also has drying alcohol in it, which a lot of people like to avoid. With the La Roche-Posay Anthelios, which has a lot of drying alcohol high on the ingredients list, the first couple of uses felt great because alcohol in sunscreens helps it feel more lightweight on the skin, absorbs, evaporates off the skin, and helps it sink in quicker. I loved it at first. But then I noticed on day four my skin started feeling really tight. I woke up and my skin felt like I was wearing a mask, it was really tight and stiff. By day six my skin was literally flaking and was so dry. It was the accumulation of that drying alcohol constantly being reapplied. I think with the Anthelios it's one of those that's quite nice to use in the morning every other day. I wouldn't be using it as a daily one."
