What the gurus are saying

Experts praise this as a solid beginner retinol that does the job without unnecessary extras. The main trade-off is the dropper bottle and thin texture, which means it's easy to dispense but requires care not to overuse. Those new to retinol may want to start two nights a week and gradually build up, and anyone applying it to sensitive areas like the neck should buffer it with moisturizer first to ease irritation.

"Neutrogena one by L'Oreal I love the retinol. It comes in two strengths, the 0.05 and 0.1."

"If you are a beginner and you're looking for a nice basic retinol to include at night in your routine it is this one by L'Oreal. I do hate the fact that it comes in a dropper and it is quite runny, but you do not need more than this much for your full face. If you want to be adventurous you could use this on your neck only after you have moisturized because you want to buffer the retinol so that it doesn't irritate your neck. You start maybe two times a week at night for a few weeks and every week you add a night, working your way up so that one day you can tolerate it every night."
