What they flagged

  • Bottle gets cloudy over time

  • Too much product for the price

What the gurus are saying

The beaded steel wand is the detail these experts keep returning to, and chilling the tube in the fridge adds an extra cooling lift for puffiness. Caffeine and hyaluronic acid are said to ease mild puffiness and dark circles, though the effects are gentle rather than dramatic. The one thing to keep in mind: a few find the price hard to justify, and the oversized bottle that clouds over time holds it back.

"One of the things that I really like about it, caffeine is supposed to help promote blood flow. The hyaluronic acid is very hydrating. I like this because it has a really nice lightweight hydration and it creates a little bit of a grip if you struggle with your concealer staying in place. And it has these little [...] metal balls, like ball bearings, [...] that glide over the under eye."

"I typically say go for caffeinated options like L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Caffeine Plus HA serum. With that stainless steel wand, that beaded wand, you can keep that whole product in your fridge and take it out and with that cooling effect from the cold temperature plus the caffeine will help depuff the eyes."

"It has caffeine to help with dark circles and depuffing the skin. You have hyaluronic acid to plump up the skin, help with crepiness, fine lines or wrinkles. Plus, you have the depuffing and the dark circles addressed by the caffeine. And if you leave this product in the refrigerator, it adds an additional cooling effect for depuffing the skin. So that's a nice little hack there is keep this product in your fridge. This is a nice one to add to the morning before starting your day."

"It's a L'Oreal caffeinated under eye serum. It helps out with the kind of under eye bags and the darkness there. I do apply it at night because I find that it can be a little sticky, so my makeup will stick to it, so I put it on at night and it kind of sucks things up for the next morning. [...] Everyone deals with these under eye issues, whether it's puffiness, dark circles, it could be skin laxity, and some people want to work on some of the wrinkles that are starting to form there."

"The caffeine helps with the puffiness under the eyes. The hyaluronic acid seems counterintuitive, like why do you want to depuff but also hydrate, but it'll help with the nice crows feet that we get when we smile, and you can achieve a little bit of softening there by having hyaluronic acid in a serum like that."

"The one that I have been using the most would be L'Oreal Paris Revitalift hyaluronic acid plus caffeine Eye Serum. It has this metallic stainless steel wand with beads, and if you keep this product in the fridge, that beaded wand will get very cold, and that cold temperature will also help with de-puffing under the eye."

"The L'Oreal Paris eye serum with that cooling roller is my favorite eye product because it combines cool temperatures, a novel applicator, with hyaluronic acid and caffeine. I like that for like a puffy, depuff combo."

"This is the L'Oreal Revitalift with 2.5% hyaluronic acid and caffeine product. The caffeine and the hyaluronic acid together, they both help a little bit with the puffiness and crepiness that you might see under the eye. The effect is not nearly as dramatic as you might see with other products, but it does help with mild puffiness. The other part of this product which is why I love this product, despite the fact that some people don't, is that it has these cooling rollers in it."

"It is free of fragrance. A little bit goes a long way. I actually did appreciate a subtle de-puffing effect with this, similar to the Ordinary's caffeine serum. I actually really like the applicator too. But the product, there was too much product, you barely need any. It took me forever and then the formula started getting kind of cloudy looking. I don't know if I accidentally transferred like moisturizer from my face into the bottle at some point, but it was pretty good."

"I liked this L'Oreal Hyaluronic Acid Plus Caffeine Bright Eye, but my problem with this product is the packaging, it kind of got cloudy with time. [...] I never made it all the way through this product, and in my opinion they would be better off putting this in a smaller container, because the way it goes on the under eye area you don't need very much, and [...] you could use this thousands of times and never make a dent in the bottle."

"This product is not inexpensive, I paid around 28 to 33 dollars for it, and I think [...] they give you way too much product. It should be sold in a smaller bottle for less money. It's not a bad product per se, but [...] is this worth it? I don't really think it is, honestly, and I don't see myself using this long term at all."

"I gave the L'Oreal Revitalift 2.5% hyaluronic acid plus caffeine [...] a go, using it pretty much daily for six or eight weeks, and it just doesn't seem like I made much of a bump with it."

"But here's the thing, there's actually too much product in this tube, [...] because you barely need any. It does such a great job dispensing exactly what you need that there's just tons left, it's going to take eons to get through, and I think it's too much in and out. [...] For that reason I think they should sell smaller little containers of it, that's just my opinion."

"I'm still using this caffeine eye serum from L'Oreal, just testing it out. I definitely think it kind of brightens up the under eye, albeit temporarily, but you get a lot of product in that bottle for the price."

"I've also been using the L'Oreal Caffeine Eye Serum. I really like this. It's got caffeine in it which can temporarily improve the look of dark under eye circles. I really like the rollerball, and it also has hyaluronic acid in it. [...] The thing I like about the applicator is that it really dispenses the product on so you don't end up wasting it, it gives a nice thin film."

Vlog: LOREAL CAFFEINE EYE SERUM & TESTING NEW SKIN CARE 😍 @DrDrayzday
"I've used this a couple of times, word of warning, it's very thin in consistency, and if it drips into your eye it burns for sure, so I think it would be better if it were just a little bit more viscous in consistency. But I do kind of notice a temporary deep puffing effect under the eyes with this. It also gives a bit of a tingly sensation, a little bit of warmth."
BUDGET FRIENDLY ANTI-AGING SKIN CARE: DERMATOLOGIST TOP PICKS @DrDrayzday
"L'Oreal's 2.5 hyaluronic acid plus caffeine eye serum would be an option for temporarily plumping up those fine lines and wrinkles. Caffeine may temporarily improve the appearance of dark under eye circles as well. However, it's not inexpensive and quite pricey."

"It's a great drugstore option and it's really nice underneath your sunscreen and makeup. But at this time I am not going to repurchase only because I have other eye serums that I am currently using that I am loving a little bit more, but this would be another option to resort to down the road if I felt like I needed it."
~Mixed
"However, do I think this product is worth 24.99? Maybe for me no. Personally this does nothing more than what my hydrating toner does that's safe to use around the eyes, [...] and for me that feels a lot more hydrating and plumping than this standalone serum. Whilst the massage wand is nice, it's not really a product I'll repurchase just to have a nice feeling while I'm putting on an eye serum. That combination of a toner and an eye cream for me beats this."
