What the gurus are saying

This fluid chemical sunscreen earns strong praise for its weightless feel and lack of white cast, making it particularly appealing to those with oily skin, though gurus note it has a notably shiny finish. Dermatologists highlight its scorable glucoside ingredient and recommend it as a solid budget option at $26, though one expert flagged the product's marketing as misleading clickbait that oversells the results.

"This is just such a bad representation for so many reasons that we need to talk about it because this is that visual click baity thing that gets people to watch and like gets you to think wow I must buy this product"

"I really wish that the serum from this brand, which I also reviewed, I wish they had made that fragrance-free because it did not care for the strong fragrance in that serum. It's really easy to apply and it's just a nice lightweight finish. [...] It does have alcohol denaturant in it which allows it to be kind of this fluid quick dry formula, but some people find that alcohol denaturant is a touch drying. I didn't find that to be the case with this, but I'm just pointing it out."

"I actually really like it. It is a chemical organic sunscreen. It doesn't leave a white cast but it's a really nice fluid formula. A little shiny if I'm being honest when it dries down, like it's got this shimmery shine. I don't mind that but it's FYI. It is shiny but it doesn't feel greasy or oily or anything."
What's Up With Loreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Serum And Sunscreen?
"I genuinely like the sunscreen a lot. While it doesn't feel greasy, it certainly does give the skin a shimmery shiny sheen that can come across as making you look oily. So if you have oily skin and are actively seeking sunscreens that have a matte finish, you might be disappointed with this."

"I really like it. I think it's a good option in terms of the feel for oily skin, but man is it shiny. [...] It's got some tin oxide and mica in it that gives this shimmery look, kind of a radiance. It's really shiny. [...] This has alcohol denat in it, which makes it not greasy. Now, because it has that alcohol denat in it, some people may find it on the drying end. I didn't find that to be the case. This didn't cause me any burning or stinging around my eyes. It's not water resistant."

"This one is $26, it also has a scorable glucoside in it, no niacinamide, and it also is a chemical SPF 50. This one is even a little more lightweight and here they are very similar on the skin, so just grab the $10 one because it feels very similar and it has niacinamide in it, but if you feel compelled for something even a little more lightweight, this is great too."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
