What the gurus are saying

The brand's early releases (contour and highlight kits, powders, and liquid lipsticks) sold at an impressive rate and brought in substantial revenue in its first year. However, gurus split on the formula quality: one noted the original line felt gimmicky with products that didn't perform well, while another found the reformulated version reads as more refined and less influencer-driven than the first iteration. The verdict hinges on which generation someone's considering.

"KKW Beauty followed the really successful contour and highlight kits with a powder version, as well as the liquid lipsticks just a couple of months later. And these were generally quite well received. They launched concealer kits, eyeshadow palettes, as well as collabs with Kylie Cosmetics, Makeup by Mario, and model Winnie Harlow. Again, all of which were fairly well received and sold at an impressive rate, too. In KKW Beauty's first year in business, they brought in over 100 million in revenue, which is a pretty successful start by anybody's standards."

"The old brand seemed kind of gimmicky and it played on that Kim Kardashian Contour aspect, seemed more merchandise, more gimmicky. The products were pretty terrible. The Contour sticks and all that kind of stuff. The first brand did give off like influencer own brand vibes. If you compare the two side by side, this one does seem a little bit more luxury compared to the old release."
